STARGATE ATLANTIS STUNT COORDINATOR

July 28th, 2005

I was planning on making an entry tonight after the gym, but when I got here and saw another reference to our recently injured friend, and stuntman..............I drew a blank. I will recount the week as well as I can at this point. Still prepping Martin Wood's next episode, while shooting Andy Mikita's. We will rehearse a small fight sequence involving Jason Momoa in the morning, and shoot it tomorrow afternoon. I can give no more details on that, but it will be brutal. After training this evening, I took in a film, "The Island". A must see for Sci-Fi fans. Very well done indeed. To answer a previous question, yes I do watch films and get entertained. I also, at the same time, disect the stunts and special effects. It just comes naturally. It by no means destroys the enjoyment of the film for me, but rather enhances it. I did not attend any restaurant this evening, so no comments for future convention goers on that tonight, sorry! Joe "Sheppard" was able to take a flight in a F-16 during the hiatus. He wants me to let everyone know that at one point, he threw up. He is very proud of that! He loved every minute of the flight and tells me he would do it again in a second. Our club's fighter that competed last weekend, Sal Ramm, WON his bout............of course. A unanimus D................good for you Sal!! This was a Muay Thai, 3 round, amateur bout. Now.......................A fellow stuntman, and friend, was injured in an accident on the set of "Smallville" yesterday. His name is Christopher Sayour. He is the stunt double for Tom Welling, and the new stunt coordinator for the show this season. Chris is one of our top stunt performers in Canada. Here is not the place to discuss the where, when, why, and how of the accident. All that I am asking for are as many positive, and kind thoughts directed at this part of the world for our friend, and brother in arms. He is a strong man, and will get well quickly I am sure. The more support for him, the better. Thanx to you all. Take care.

Ooh, me first! Didn't think I wouldn't crop up here at some stage did ya BamBam? :oP

Great to hear that Sal won his bout. After you mentioned the fight before, I'm glad you came back to us with the result. :o)

As for Joe, *cough* nice of him to share that little nugget of information with us. Most people would be proud NOT to chunder on a flight in an F-16. I always knew Mr F was a loon - must be why I like him so much!

I was really sorry to hear about Christopher. I hope he gets through this real soon. And while I'm on that note - stay safe James, I'd miss ya buddy!

Anyway, best stop being such a fangirl and get on with some *ahem* work...

Síochán leat!

Bambam, Prayers went up for Chris! Hope he is okay. I appreciate the update.

I always enjoy the stunts in a movie too, even though I sometimes disect them. It is just amazing what you guys can do!! You take a pounding sometimes!

Joe blew chunks? Ew, I feel for him because I know I would have done the same thing. Being proud of it though? LOL For me embarrassing would be the word but maybe I'm just old. He is one sick pup! hehe

Can't wait to see all your hard work this season, the stunts are the coolest part for me. Enjoy, stay safe!

One more "get well" wish for Christopher Sayour. He probably has a really hard job being the stunt double for Superman. Hope there are no permanent injuries.

Yet another get will for Chris.

And thanks for that little nugget of information on Joe. The thought of him yakking in an F-16 will stay with me always. ;)

Sending fast recovery wishes to your friend Christopher…

The Island was fine, but didn’t cover any new ground for me. I got tired of all the product placements. Ewan McGregor, Scarlett Johannsen, Steve Buscemi and Sean Bean were all worth watching though. Nice boat!

Thanks for the continued blogging…

Looking forward to more good SG episodes tonight.

that was one impressive knife fight in tonight's SG:Atlantis episode, were there any doubles used in that sequence?

As someone who has had the opportunity to see stuntmen in action, and all that is involved in their work, my heart goes out to you and your friend's family.
Here's to a quick recovery!

And wow, I would never believe that you're 38! You look great! Got any suggestions for an old karateka trying to recover from a pinched nerve in the back?

Gosh, reading about your work out routine, makes me want to drop my doughnut and go work out!...but then there's that pinched nerve thingie...*sigh*....oh well, no pain, no gain, eh?
