STARGATE ATLANTIS STUNT COORDINATOR

August 26, 2005

What a busy week...............phew! I just walked in the door after a day full of meetings and a visit to the chiropractor..................torture. This dude really knows how to lay the pain on a man. This week we finished up shooting the "Michael" episode, and started into "The Long Goodbye". I would like to extend my congrats to Connor Trinnear, our "Michael", and his wife. The baby is due soon in October. I spoke with Chris Sayour today myself. He is doing alot better. He has been out of his doctor induced coma for about a week now, and feels greatful to be alive. He appreciates all of the support from the around the world. He has a long road of healing ahead, but he assures me that it will be quick from here on in. "You can't kill me that easy BamBam!", he said. It was good to hear his voice since all my updates on his health have been second hand. Yes, after finishing off our interview for the special features, Ivon took me out for lunch. The problem was...........I had to be back at the studio for a fight rehearsal. Since there was no way that I would make it in time, all of the stunt guys involved had to meet us at the restaurant. I'm pretty sure that Ivon was a bit overwhelmed. Immediately they all start to talk about the latest car roll-over and the camera placement for it..................Ivon just chewed his food and grinned. Fun day. We had to re-shoot some of my interview because of some tech problem, but Ivon assures me this one is even better. I hope that you all enjoy the piece. This week already we have shot two hand to hand fights and a couple of gun fights. We also rehearsed....................right in the parking lot just for Ivon. He came out and shot us playing for awhile, and then I think that he felt safer in his office. I am quite happy with the pace of this scene...............four guys go down in 3 seconds...............When we shoot it, we should have the speed up to 2 seconds. No........still no head butting for Paul. Maybe tonight after dinner. I had Jason throw a man around like a rag doll this week............who needs wires when you have a 6 foot 4 Hawaiin. He slam dunks people like they are basketballs. Even I was impressed with what he pulled off on "Michael". Rachel, as always, had a technically perfect melee as well.......................very painfull looking, but technically perfect. Joe had some cool action hero moments this during this week as well..................Torri.......well..............I am not allowed to say................she ROCKS!! Wait till you see what she can do.......................................ooooooooooooooooooooooooooyaaaaaaaaa! So.......after lunch today, (we had Chinese food in the office), Joe approached me because he saw how much I ate. He wanted to know what my secret was for staying in shape if I eat like that all the time. The secret is................I don't eat like that all the time!! The next trip to the kitchen, he offered me some of his wonderful ice cream.............I don't even know what flavour it was, but damn it was good!! I hope there is some still in the freezer on Monday. Yes, I mentioned ice cream. It took this long, but it was bound to happen. I'm still getting a handle on this whole blog thing, and sometimes don't have a clue what to write.....................like now................oh ya. Time to go then.
Til next time! Thanx for lunch Ivon! Thanx for the ice cream Joe! Thanx for the great week Atlantis cast and crew! Thanx for taking care of me when I was sick Mom!...................................Bye.

I think it's great that CS is getting better!

Aww.. Paul in action. I'd like to see that!

Can't wait to see all the action!

Glad to hear your friend Chris is doing better.

I get the sense that you are a person who rarely sits down; maybe to write up this blog, but otherwise? :D Chiropractors are a good thing.

I look forward to seeing Torri in a big fight. Her character is so ‘straight’ it’d be nice to see a whacky and fierce fighter come out when she’s cornered. Still looking forward to Paul Beckett getting a fight too.

Thanks for blogging!

Hey Bambam, don't worry about what to write on your blog, you are doing great! You give us wonderful little morsels here and there without really giving us anything at all. You're good!

So happy about your friend Chris! Very good news.

I can tell that Jason has great strength. It must be fun to watch him do his thing. It must be fun to watch you do your thing too! hehe

Thanks for all the fun stuff you give us. I look forward to seeing your handy work.

I took your advice and watched teyla's "hit the ground" scenes and saw what you were talking about as far as stunts go. Very good work to all involved! And ouch!

If you exercise you can eat anything you want in moderation, or so I told Joe, LOL but not as much as you want. Everything in moderation.

Chiropracters Rock!!
Love and happiness.....

I always enjoy reading what you have to say about the fight scenes and stuff in general. I'm glad to hear that Chris is getting better.

I think it would be great to see Paul doing some fight scenes. Surely in his youth or while away at med school, he might have been in a wee fight or two at the pub. Just saying. ;)

I have a question for you, Bambam (*giggle* that nickname is just so perfect for you!). Are you friends with anyone who worked on Bulletproof Monk? That stunt segment was fun to watch. Now I know how people do the harness for spinning while flying through the air! 8)
man... I'm so glad that you've decided to do your blog! I've always been interested in behind-the-scenes stuff, but for some reason I've been drawn to stunt choreography the most. Its probably the dance aspect of it. I grew up on Wonderwoman and watched Xena for the portrayal of a strong woman, able to handle herself in a fight. Of course, I immensely enjoyed the recent documentary on the stunt doubles for the above title characters. Please advocate for women as stunt co-ordinators. Its also nice to see how tightknit the stunt community is. Can't wait to see your stunt segments on the SG-1 DVDs! God bless ya,
Quita

Hi again.
I just wanted to say to all who read this that I asked my question in this area of the site because my system is incompatible with the forum, so I can't "Ask Bambam" there. I really did try, though. If you want to answer my question, 2Bam, feel free to do so on your thread. 8) Thank you for being willing to give us a window on your life and career. It really is quite interesting.
In Christ,
Quita
