SOCCER

Today we played our first Atlantis vs. SG1 crew soccer game of the year. It was a beautiful day outside........warm, and sunny. This would mark the first time that we have played on an outdoor field......double the size that us hacks are used to! Between my lungs and my hip I didn't stand a chance. The teams were both full, Atlantis taking the lead almost immediately............yes....we ended up in a tie situation......2-2. During this monumentus event, I decided to take a break and jump the fence, action hero style, to visit with Lucy.....my dog. In perfect stuntman form..............my thumb ring caught on one of the links in the fence and almost tore my whole thumb off!! Blood everywhere! LOSER! I shouted to myself. Just like a pro. There was alot of friendly banter between sides......mostly between Scotty(sound dept. SG1) and me. Yes, the frenchies showed up to play for the SG1 team......and play hard they did. Sorry about the blood on your shirt Jess! At the end of it all, everyone seemed to limp away without any problems. Some great goaltending by our DP Mike Blundell and by the ever popular.....Bones. Afterwards, refreshments and food were consumed.......that's it. We plan to play in a couple of weeks again.......but this time.....SG1 is going down!!! That's right Scotty!! You!

Hi,

Maybe you guys could videodocument this next time. Reallife action...well hope your thumb is doin o.k. now. Soccer is a dangerous sport now, well here in Holland it is anyway, if you are a fan, you are a suspect of vandalism.

greets from Holland, Europe!

Hey Bam Bam

Can I just say I am so jealous of you guys, I don't think there is any other workplace in the world that is as exciting as the Stargate sets!!! I mean how many workplaces have sports tournaments…and free food!!! LOL

I'm glad you guys had fun and was sorry to hear about your thumb, good thing the frenchies were there to help!!! I wish I could say good luck and hope you win next time but since Sab and Jess are on the SG-1 team I am going to be very diplomatic and hope for another tie!!!

Thanks for the update and hope to hear from you soon!!

Erin

P.S. Jess I had to laugh at your comment, I bet you were glad you decided to wear one of Sab’s tops instead of your own!!! I bet Sab isn’t quite as forgiving as you are though LOL!!!!

Hi:

I enjoyed your demonstration at the Con in Vancouver. You obviously are no stranger to injuries and pain since that seems to be a recurring theme in your day to day existence. One of your stuntmen was slightly injured at the con and now your poor thumb.
Anyway, please share more about your experience at your first Convention for those who could not attend. Were you nervous being on stage in front of all those people? What is it like from the other side of things? As an audience member, I would love to hear your point of view.

Thanks

Arctic Goddess

I never thought that jewellery was dangerous, but now maybe I should think twice about that thumb ring that caught my eye this weekend....and be more careful when stringing pearls...;)

Hope it wasn't too traumatic, James, and that your hand is better today...Later!!

Been there done that on injuring self doing something stupid. Got a story about a broken big toe and goofing around in my dojo with large oversized boxing gloves. Shouted at myself after that too....

Anyways hope your hand feels better soon, hope you didn't need any stitches. Go team Atlantis!!
