HIATUS......AUSSIE LAND!!

We have started our mid-summer hiatus.....we are off until July 31....whoa...big break! I just walked in from sitting on a patio in Yaletown, hy hood....with Ivon...beautiful day out there....Vancouver in the summer rocks!! It's Saturday...on Tuesday I head off for Sydney, Australia for the BOBW con....Dan Payne will be on the same flight as me, we will hook up with Jason Momoa once we get there. Good times. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and seeing a new country. It seems that the DVD collection for the second season has been released in Europe....thank you for your kind comments regarding the stunt section of the special features. To answer on of the questions that came up after fans watching the piece, no, the blue or black pads used for rehearsal are NOT generally still there once the camera rolls and we start shooting. My stunt guys are hitting the real ground.....dirt, grass, cement, wood,.....whatever!! They are the real thing and it looks the way it looks, painful, because it is. Thanx to Ivon for putting together such a great behind the scenes look at the action on the show. He did a fantastic job. This is the first bit of typing that I have done with this new, wireless keyboard....what have I been thinking!! Wireless all the way baby!! One of our regular stunt Wraiths, Brad Loree, had his 46th Birthday party last night.....Happy Birthday Brad! You can also see Brad on Smallville as he is Tom Welling's stunt double as well. It was interesting to see the Eragon people show up in Vancouver for some final shooting of the movie.....I believe it will be showing in theatres in December so don't miss that one!! On our way to Aus we have a stop over for a bit in the Honolulu(sp.) airport, before continuing on to Sydney. Love it!! During the first couple of days of our hiatus, I have had the honour of training with a new actress, for a new project, in order to transform her into the warrior that she has to become. I can't say anything else about it but I will let you know more as time progresses. All I can say here is that you will love it!! Anyway.....just stopped in to give you all a quick update before taking off out of the country. I hope everyone is enjoying the DVD collection from season 2 of Atlantis and season 9 of SG1. Seasons 3 and 10 go on air in a couple of weeks and.....well.........say no more......yikes!! Hold on to your hats!! To all the stunt guys that made it to Kelowna this weekend on their bikes.....you suck!! My insurance just ran out!! But...a new shipment of zuccini flowers just came in at my favorite Italian restaurant so.....that's where I will be tonight!! Ciao!

Hi, James.

Best wishes.

Hey James,
I can't believe it's already the half-year break!
To put it frankly, I'm sitting here freezing bits off as I type these words - and I'm in Sydney! Yikes! But then I realise that compared with Vancouver, you probably won't notice the cold.
I hope you enjoy your well-deserved break and we'll see you, Dan and Jason next week at the con.
And yup, I also enjoyed the S2 DVDs and extras. Cool bits.
Take care - enjoy yourself!
Alex

Hey James
Thanks for another blog update!!! Unfortunatly I won't be getting to meet you while you are in Australia but I hope you have a great time while you are here!!! Australia is such a great country I'm sure you will love it!!! If you get a chance though try to get out of the city and go somewhere like the Blue Mountains, they are more like rolling hills then the Canadian Mountains but they are still beautiful!!!
I recently saw Ivon's behind the scenes feature on your stunt work and it was awesome!! We sometimes forget how much work goes into what you guys do so it was great to see everything from your point of view!!! It really does make us gate fans appreciate how lucky we are to have such a fantastic crew working on our shows!!!!
Have a great holiday and hope to hear from you soon!!!
Hugs
Erin
Hello Mr. Bamford,
I have been trying to get a hold of you through the NBC PR department, but was delighted to find that you have a blog. I figured it may be faster to get in touch with you this way.
My name is Shannon Youngs, but everyone here at the studio knows me as Bunny. I work as a Production Manager and Marketing Manager for Blackout's Box Studios. We have been in the process of creating a second studio location and moving our popular "Blackout's Box Live" show to this new location. This upcoming Thursday is the reluanch (our show has been down for about 6 months du eto transit and upgrading). "Blackout's Box Live" is a show that focuses on comedy, prank calls, art, music and philosophy. I can give you demographics and traffic info if you would like, but know that this interactive internet radio show is immensly popular.
A couple of years ago, we had a affliate agreement with "The Star Wars Kid" (which of course got national coverage). Our site traffic was easily at its highest during that peroid.
So I have talked our director into testing out a Sci-fi based internet radio show. For the time being, we will have an hour segment tagged onto the existing show in which Keechara (a Scf-fi guru and popular DJ) will be hosting the show.
She ran her programming ideas by me. She wants to do a Stargate feature, since the series is starting up again. The angle she wants to take is how the Farscape fans have been happy with the most recent Farscape cast cross-over, but that some original Stargate fans are less pleased with the casting changes. I wanted her to play up the sci-fi fan vs. sci-fan fan agle, because the show is interactive and the chat rooms can get QUITE heated (as you know with sci-fi fans) making good entertainment for show listeners who arent necessarily sci-fi and/or StarGate fans.
Anyway (I am getting somewhere with this), in addition to us going after the sci-fi internet market, our current fan base has many aspiring film producers. Knowing this about our current market, Keechara thought it would be great to have someone on the crew end to talk about some of the behind the scenes prep. Again, this is a great way to keep interest of sci-fi fans and the regular show fans.
We would love to have a short interview for this new show segment. The rest of the show is featuring local artists (since we have just relocated) so many aspriing artists will be listening and would love to hear feedback from a well-known professional who has made a name for himself in the industry.
Keechara's segment is from 1am to 2am EST (our show runs from 9pm to 3am EST). A few minutes of your time for a professional interview would do wonders for this new show we are trying to branch off. We can even prerecord an interview if it is more convenient for your schedule. We can provide you a copy of the taped show for your personal use as well, if you are interested.
I would love to hear from you personally in regards to this interview request. My work email is shannon@blackout.com.
Thank you so much for your time and attention. I have enjoyed skimming through your blog. I like the tone/style that you use to narrate your blogs and how you give time (both by blogging and boarding) to answer fans questions about your feild and industy.
Hey BamBam,
The stunts section was fabulous! really showcased what you guys do.
Hope you have a good time here in Sydney!
Take care,
~ Sapph
