Stargate's Future

Happy New Year!
My family has just returned from a week and a half visiting with family and friends in the beautiful (and WET) Pacific Northwest. Over the next two weeks I'll be writing tons and tons of papers to finish up the semester. In the meantime, thank goodness we have David to keep us satisfied with new interviews at GateWorld! Don't miss our special,
two-part audio interview with David Hewlett ("Rodney McKay") now.
By now you've no doubt read our
reports on the future of the Stargate franchise: Season Eleven is officially off the table, and the studio plans to produce an on-going series of
Stargate SG-1 movies. A third show is also in the early stages of development, and could see the light of day as early as 2008.
I'm personally sad to see the last vestigates of hope for an eleventh season pass into the night, but compared to what happens to so many cancelled shows, the news is good. Assuming the DVD sales justify the business model, and the cast is on board, the adventures of SG-1 will continue for the forseeable future.
I'm also very excited at the idea of a third series (Ooh! A new episode guide to start! ... At GateWorld we live for this stuff.), and can't wait to learn more about it. I think we're on the cusp of a new era for the Stargate franchise.
So, Happy 2007. School is keeping me at least as busy as I expected it to, but now that I'm getting into the groove of things I'll try to keep up on this blog more often! Drop a comment and let me know what you'd like to see here.
