Earworms

Do you have an
earworm? One of those nasty little tunes that gets stuck in your head and just won't leave? I've had one my whole life just about. Whenever things get quiet in my head, Elton John and Kiki Dee pop up singing 'Don't go Breaking my heart'. The next most likely tune to pop up is the theme music to Stargate (in fact, that ran through my head nearly the whole time I was in labour, interspersed with the occaisional Bob Marley 'One Love'). However, if you live in the UK, and have cable/digital/satellite, it is quite likely your earworm will go something like 'for bonza car insurance deals, just get on to Sheila's Wheels'.

Milestones, Speculation and Walking

The scariest, or rather one of the scariest, milestones was reached last week. We met the parents of my stepson's first serious girlfriend. I have no idea why this is so nerve wracking, or why it doesn't get easier with time. Sweaty palms, heart racing, short of breath, all familiar to me from when we met step daughter's first serious boyfriend's parents. The event was my stepson's exhibition - he has just finished a one year art and design course. I know I'm biased, but his final art work was quite stunning. Perhaps it was the stress, but the summer cold I'd had the week before came back, and the doctor put me on antibiotics.
Did you sign up for Avalon, the first con or rather event that RDA has chosen to do? I didn't. As I said in the thread, it just isn't my kind of event. What I want now is to get his autograph in person. A signature just doesn't mean anything to me otherwise. I'm a complete 100 percent Daniel fan, and Michael Shanks fan, and I know that if he was doing the event instead of Richard I'd be there with bells on. But since he isn't, and Richard isn't signing autographs, I can't justify the cost. Two hundred quid for a ticket, then that much again at least in travel and hotel costs, plus incidentals like food. But, I'm not worried, because the G4 who are running the event are marvellous. I have every faith in them, and I know that Richard is going to enjoy doing this so much that he will definitely be doing another con. I'm happy to wait for that one.
In the meantime I've developed a new past time - silly theory hunting. The speculations going on about this event are quite astonishing, and I've loved watching the threads devoted to this topic. My two current favourites are (and this is a new number one) that this is actually a honeymoon (er, Amanda isn't Sam, Richard isn't Jack, and Amanda is quite happily married already), and a close second is that the event is called Avalon because originally it was going to be a MS and CB event but the organisers don't like them, so they pushed the actors out and brought in their favourites instead. Wow. I can't even begin to refute that one - it is just wrong on so many levels.
As if life wasn't exciting enough with the world cup going on (cough) Baby G got up and walked on Saturday. Just as his dad was telling the in-laws that no, baby G wasn't walking yet, he just got up and did it. Winding his dad up already, and he's only 14 months.
