Apophis is on the way to Earth

True! Apophis is headed for Earth, and will actually pass quite close. It is in fact an
asteroid. Pretty cool that they called it Apophis. SG1 fans maybe? I found the story while doing a Google search on Peter Williams, who is quite possibly the prettiest man alive. Definitely no resemblance to a craggy asteroid.
Great
news on the frontpage of Gateworld. I am so excited about SGU, and am really pleased that my two fave's from SG1 - Michael Shanks aka Daniel and Amanda Tapping aka Sam - are signed up for guest appearances. Woo hoo! I cannot wait for this show to start.

Stargate Facebook app

This is quite a handy little Facebook app for Stargate fans:

I like it. If anyone has come across any others for the show let me know.

Good hair day

Hair and all that. I'm watching Upgrades, and find myself reflecting on the various hairstyles the guys have had. This is probably prompted by the caterpiller thing Tealc is sporting on his face at this point (one to file under it seemed like a good idea at the time...). I love Sam's hair in season 4, and Jack definitely looks better with the salt and pepper look than the dyed brown. At the time I was too busy mourning the loss of Daniel's lovely hair (although not the 'Hamlet' cut *shudder*) but looking back, he looked rather hot with that hairstyle. I think I can now give it my seal of approval.

Farewell targat

And goodbye to Hard Dean Anders. After many years of phonecalls, arguments and engineers we finally found that rare thing - a competant cable engineer. A chap who called to fix an unrelated problem with our cable box asked if there was anything else he could do while he was there. I explained that the only thing I wanted fixed and had been trying to get fixed for years was the aspect ration. Despite repeatd calls to Virgin (and its predecessors) widescreen footage was being piped through to us as if it were 4:3 footage. The result being that no matter what we did, we lost the sides of the image if it was widescreen. So many times I'd called the cable company or had someone come look and been told that it wasn't them, it must be the fault of our TV (and we've had three TVs in that time, all widescreen and the last two HD ready as well).
This chap simply went into the box's technical setup and changed the aspect ratio setting there.
Now when we watch widescreen SG1 episodes on Sky One we get to see the whole picture. No more chopped off the top of heads, no more missing bits from the sides, and most importantly, we now get to see Stargate starring Richard Dean Anderson, and not targat starring hard dean anders (possibly a good porn name should he ever want a career change).
Hurrah!
