A Golden Classic

I have just had the priviledge of viewing SG1's latest episode entitled "Arthur's Mantle", and even though it was really a re-do of an old tale, it worked very well. It was finally good to see some good interaction between Sam and Mitchell - with Sam reluctant (and upset) to see him go off world while in the other dimension. It was a great ep, with ramifications that go way into Season 10 of SG1.

On the Forums front, we've finally got the forum's operating smoothly, with no issues for over a month now, which is great for everyone. There is now a weekly scheduled maintenance that is carried out each Monday to keep the server purring along, please be aware of this when using the forums, as they may be unavailable during this period.

My jogging partner managed to get a knife through her foot last week, so my flab level is increasing, but hopefully we will continue jogging around Lake Munga tomorrow afternoon - hooray

Stargate Worlds

As an epic World of Warcraft fan, i have been excited at the news of the Stargate Worlds MMO, however, at the same time, i am feeling a deep hurt inside for the (now, unemployed) team at Perception Studios in Sydney.

Late November, last year i managed to score a video interview with two of the guys at Perception Studios for Gateworld, however the interview remains unpublished as of yet, due to the current situation, that has seen a rush of stories surrounding the game that suggest it had been cancelled. Now i'd like to point out here that there has not been any OFFICIAL word on this game being cancelled, just a post from the forum administrator of the official site, who DOES NOT work for Perception. However, if the game had not been cancelled, its confusing to think why the discussion was allowed to continue by Perception.

There has not been a media release from MGM or Perception, which leads me to believe that there is some behind the scenes scrabbling to try and find a last minute deal that can see the game released, as there was a very large crew behind it, and when i spoke with them in November, the game was very much near a QA testing level - which means, from MGM's side, there's still a chance for them to make money, and from Perception's side - a way to save their company.

Well, at the very least i hope this is the case, as one of the things that was discussed at the Australian Game Developer's Conference (AGDC) i attended in Melbourne, was that alot of Australian game development seem to be continually being shafted by their US and European counterparts, and publishers. I do recall that Perception was taking JoWood to court over their actions to stop publishing, but if it was a US company, i doubt that would have happened, for fear of massive ramifications.

Why is it us little aussies must suffer?

Friday Friday

Well it's Friday, beer oclock time and its time to go and hang out with the mates. Off to the beautiful upper swan tonight for a BBQ. In about 18 hours time, those lucky people in the USofA will be treated to a new episode of Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Reading the spoilers on Gateworld regarding "Off the Grid" for SG1, and Sacrifice of BSG i am very interested in the episodes, though, i am still getting over last weeks Atlantis finale (aired in Canada). The annoying thing is, now I have to wait until July before new episodes.

However if i was to wait for them to air in Australia - i'd be waiting until March/April, just for the start of season 2! euck! Please Channel 7, put stuff up the priority list! (And dont show it at 10:30pm!!!). Nine did that with Farscape, and 7 with Futurama and look where it landed those shows, although, there is news of a return for Futurama which sounds mouthwettingly awesome!

Kree!

Hello Gateworld Readers, and welcome to my Blog. This is my 3rd attempt at making/having a blog that lasts more than a couple of days worth of posts, however this time, the blog is powered by Gateworld so the effort is definatelly worth putting in.

For those of you who have never been to the Gateworld Forums i am the resident tech guru who usually gets the full scale torture, jaffa style, when things go southwards. The last two months have seen huge growth in the forums, and it has been a huge task keeping up with things, making sure everything is running smoothly. I also help out with the Gateworld site from time to time, but purely on a technical aspect.

Onto life, i have just started a new job last Thursday working on the Service Desk for Alinta, a major Gas/Electricity company here in Australia. I am really enjoying the work (It's a 30 day contract position), and will see how things pan out after that.

Onto Stargate - well i've been lucky enough to view the last ep of the Stargate Atlantis season, thanks to my puddle jumper, and short visits to canada *cough*, and well i must say, i dont think i've seen a more action packed TV single like it ever before. I thouroughly enjoyed it, and even though i saw alot of complaints about it being "holey" at the forums, i think the writers and producers, and indeed actors, made it an episode to remember!

Well thats all i have time for tonight, i have to head off to bed and catch some sleep before work in the morning - still adjusting to the 7am to 4pm work hours... ick!
