Last weekend's ice cream flavors: Reverse Smores, Pastry Cookie, Nanaimo Bar, and my wife's favorite - Caramel Bread Pudding.
This week's flavors: Carrot Cake, Blueberry Pie, and an unyet decided chocolate-based flavor.
Okay, no sooner do things die down regarding my spoiler rant than someone directs me to a website so I could check out the SciFi promo for this weeks' episodes. Thankfully, the promo for Instinct only spoils the first act break. The promo for Ex Deus Machina scores the daily double by not only spoiling the first act break but spoiling the fourth act break, final twist, as well. I mean, come. Its one thing when a fan-based website digs up spoilers for upcoming episodes and posts them on their site for fans to actively access, but when your broadcaster spoils the episode's twists and turns in promos sprung on unsuspecting viewers, well... I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So here are all the major spoilers for the rest of the season:
1. Daniel and Dr. Lam hook up.
2. Bratac dies defending Chulak from the Priors.
3. Chulak is destroyed.
4. Mitchell is a mole for The Trust who has a change of heart about his employers and turns on them before season's end.
5. Landry is kidnapped while on an off-world diplomatic mission. He is rescued at episode's end, but it won't be until much later in the season that we realize the Landry we saved is an android and the real Landry is still off-world.
6. Teal'c gets married.
7. Carter discovers she is a latent telepath.
8. A furling joins the team and the furry little scamp gets into all sorts of trouble, leaving little "presents" in his fellow team members' boots.
9. SG-1 visits a planet where the natives communicate by song. Things go awry and the team must sing their way out of a dangerous predicament.
10. Hathor II.
11. Just kidding.
Prep began on The Scourge and The Long Goodbye (which will allow Tori to flex more than her acting muscle as Weir "opens a can of whup ass" on Sheppard). Rob is working on Crusade, which will see the return of THAT CHARACTER with a major relevation (which I won't reveal at the moment so you'll just have to wait for the SciFi promo). Rob will not only be writing and producing, but directing the episode as well. I've already told him I expect nothing less than the greatest episode of Stargate SG-1 EVER! Anything less will be a disappointment. No pressure. Also started beating out Camelot. Alan is finishing up his second draft of Arthur's Mantle. Carl is outlining Inferno. And Martin is working on the big Atlantis season finale.
Watched the series finale of Six Feet Under the other night. It was a perfect end to a wonderful show and the final five minutes were pretty heart-wrenching. Damian and I discussed it and he had a different interpretation of (moreover, took away someting completely different from) those five minutes. As for me - one aspect bothered me so much that I stayed up all night thinking about it. Of course, it could have been the ice cream.
Well, I'm off. Finished off season 2 of Babylon 5 and will be switching gears. Recommendations? By the way, keep those recommendations coming. I saw Attack the Gas Station and loved it.
Joe
#4 and #10.
Think of the fan's that you'd make happy. Do you know the general cheeselove for Hath-hor? Beloved, it is. Sex,Drugs and Rock n' Roll... And hey, we didn't actually SEE a body.... I'm just sayin'.
anyhew- gotta love skiffy, well, tolerate skiffy, well, live with it, anyway.
hey, i agree with you on the spoilers, i like teasers, but these, page long info is.. really.. too much.. i want to be shocked, surprised, and wowed, like i was with the seige. I hope sci fi and gateworld.. will help with the leaking..
keep up the good work!!!
very loyal fan

You had me laughing with this post by #2 on the list. I love the sarcasm!
Six Feet Under WAS a great ep. I came to the show in its last season and only wish I had gotten on board somewhere during the first five. TV on DVD here I come.
Another great HBO show... Entourage. Check it out. You can let us know if you find it as amusing from an "insider's" perspective.
I completely agree with you on the spoilers. In fact, I often find myself thinking that the SciFi promos (or promos in general) tend to give away too much, or much rather too many major plot twists. A friend of mine actually tries to avoid promos because of that. Funny that some people read all the spoilers they can find, while others do what they can to avoid them. I'm the type who tends to know what an episode might be about, but I avoid the major spoilers. I guess what I read could be described as teasers rather than spoilers.
I did love those spoilers you gave away though. This only verefies what I've been expecting all along: this will indeed turn out to be the best season yet.
It's great to hear that Rob Cooper will be directing an episode. I'm looking forward to that. I've really been enjoying the new seasons of SG-1 and Atlantis. Some great episodes on both shows! I'd love to tell everyone involved what an amazing job they're doing!
Okay. Now, you've asked for recommendations regarding a new television show? I've mentioned this one quite some time ago actually, and I'll say again, it's one amazing show! What I'm talking about is of course...24.
In fact, I love it so much, I'm currently re-watching Season One on DVD myself. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it if you'll get around to watching it.
I don't know how much you know about the show, but the concept is that every episode takes place in REAL TIME. One season consists of 24 episodes and takes place in a SINGLE DAY. And the way that's done is just amazing; there are some plot twists which I think no one can see coming. Great show, as keep telling...well, pretty much everyone I know. Great writing, great acting, great editing (it includes split screens), and a very unique directing style. And I believe it's safe to say that once you've started watching it, you'll be hooked, because you'll just want to know what will happen next.
So that's my recommendation to you. Although I guess it sounds more like advertising. But I dare say you shouldn't be disapointed. :-)
Well, that's it from me...for now. Those ice cream flavours do sound delicious; I'm a huge ice cream fan myself. One of these days I'll have to learn how to make ice cream.
Alex
Hmmmm... relevant... relevance... relevancy
SORRY, no "relevation"
That's OK I'm sure you meant "revelation" ;-)
Funny how even a sleep deprived mind can think faster than our fingers can stroke the keys of a keyboard. Unfortunately I only know this from experience.
Speaking of spoilers...
All I'm going to say is watch season two of Alias and no matter what happens, or how irrited you (or your wife) becomes along the way, MAKE SURE you watch the WHOLE season!!!
OMFG! Why spoil me on Carter's Telepathic Abilites!!!!
/me jumps off nearest brige
Just outta interest, has Robert Copper directed any Stargate episodes before?
Crap. I was hoping the list was real. Especially the Furling gifts. ;)
i *love* number 7 of your fake spoilers! (carter discovers she is a latent telepath). too bad it's not true. :p
when i used to go to the movies (before i had to take out a loan to afford it), i thought the movie previews gave *everything* away. i liked the preview for the Exorcist (yes, i'm dating myself). it was creepy and unspoilery.
love having sam/amanda back on the show! ;)
There better be a Hathor II... ;-) Anyway, you have to watch season 3 of Babylon 5 which is its best IMHO. "Babylon 5 was our last best hope for peace... It failed."
Hey Joe, another great blog am absolutly loving them!!!!
There have been a lot of negative comments being posted in response to your blogs lately (Isn't it funny how short a time it takes for something fun and interesting to be turned into something negative on the web!!!) so I thought I would change the tone a bit and tell you how fantastic you are!!!!
I have just recently finished watching 'The Ties That Bind' (being stuck over her in Australia I had to be a bit naughty and download it, but I just couldn't wait over a year to see it!!!!)and I just have to say I think it is some of your best work ever!!!!
It was a truely fantastic episode, it had the great humour which all you best eps have plus it did a great job of continuing the story of The Ori and what a threat they will continue to be!
I especially loved the scenes that took place in the market place while they were trying to get the necklace back. It was so well written, all planned out and very tounge in cheek!!!!
Anyway I could go on forever with everything about the episode that I loved but there is just to much!!!!
I also just bought the season 8 box set (just doing my part to keep you employed LOL) and was delighted to see the profile on you and Paul! It was a fantastic interview I loved it, seeing how you go about writing an episode from start to finish as well as doing all the other work you do in producing the show!!!
Anyway keep up the good work!! Can't wait to see "Ex Deus Machina"!!!
Erin
Hey Joe!
You're absolutely right about this spoiler-thing. It really isn't understandable why some people rather want to know all about upcoming eps and seasons than wait and see what'll happen - just because they're too impatient to be satisfied with just a few little revelations.
I personally have to say I really enjoy your little spoilers here and there and really look forward for the second half of this wonderful season.
Especially the return of *that* beloved character you mentioned more than once.
Hopefully we'll see more of her in the future. I missed her like hell.
Greetings from Germany
Christina.
Joe
"Waves from Australia"
I love your sense of humour. Especially "leaving little "presents" in his fellow team members' boots."
I think this time you blog should have come with a computer warning.
"Don't have mouth full of coffee when reading. Could be dangerous to your monitor. ;P "
Thanks for a great laugh today. I definitely needed it.
tpe78
*laughing* Ya know, there's something to be said for not getting Sci Fi here in NZ - I don't get the teasers/spoilers again, and again, and again...... and again :p Makes it tricky to keep up to date enough to be involved in the fandom tho :S (right now there are teams of small elves swimming hard across the Pacific Ocean with tapes of the new eps duct taped around their middles.....*cough* or not. Depends if you guys have let them out of the script writing room ;-) ).
Aaaanyway, I know it's been mentioned before, but right now I can't imagine a more enthralling series than Battlestar Galactica. I wouldn't want ALL my TV to be like this, but wow, it grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. well, for me anyway. I guess I can understand why it might not be such a good idea for you to watch, but you did ask for recommendations.....
Joe,
Wow, you need to watch tv in the States more! Scifi has been messing up the 'coming attractions' for a year now, giving away spoilers left and right and you really need to visit Scifi.com's Atlantis site where they have a photo up from Conversion, which gives away the plot for Instinct, which has yet to even air.
And you think fans are bad.... ;)
get the new dr. who series when is pops up. i know they were showing them up in canada, but not the states, an r2 dvd set is coming out around Christmas. all i can say... dalek vs. the priors ;)
SG-1 visits a planet where the natives communicate by song. Things go awry and the team must sing their way out of a dangerous predicament.
Oh man... how much would I pay to see this. LOL.
Thanks for the giggle.
Cheers
Sesa
Good thing I never watch SCIFI until Atlantis is starting, I manage to avoid a lot of the previews, but I do agree that the ones I do see tend to ruin things. What's even worse is when they're deliberately misleading. A little misdirection can be fun, but when they have to manipulate the dialogue out of context to say something completely different than intended... that bugs me. But then, almost ALL promos for everything in Hollywood do that. *sigh* Ah well.
Can't wait to see what miracles Martin's gonna perform in the seaon finale. Nothing short of the best ep of Atlantis, ever, right? :)
Will second Kiwi's reccommendation of BSG. I know Stargate is a lot lighter and fluffier compared to Galactica, but it's the way they put it all together and manage to balance the characters and give even the secondaries some depth that impresses me. Wow. Great stuff.
The new Doctor Who will be out on DVD eventually... in the UK. That show is a LOT of fun. I'm sure David Hewlett, at least, would appreciate it. Assuming he doesn't already have it on pre-order. :)
Space: Above & Beyond is coming to DVD, too. FINALLY. Can't wait for that. BSG actually reminds me a lot of what SAaB could have been, if given the chance. Still love SAaB though.
Haven't seen a lot of good recently (and I'm not into anime like most people). I've been catching up on the snappy Veronica Mars, from producer Rob Thomas (who also created one of my all-time favorite shows, Cupid, which included Joe Flanigan in its cast). I also snagged a copy of the unaired pilot for a 2003 remake of Time Tunnel, which I've been wanting to see since... 2003. If you have any way of asking around to get a copy of your own, Joe, it's an AWESOME pilot. And not just 'cause Kavan Smith is in it. That was just the icing on the cake. Time Tunnel could have been my newest addiction, if it'd ever hit the air. *sigh*
Anyway, I'm late for work. Can I complain about it all being YOUR fault? ;)
I usually look away when the "scenes from next week come on". Unfortunately I watched it this time :(
Recommendations: Have you ever seen "Due South"? Its an old Paul Haggis creation starring Paul Gross as a Mountie in Chicago (filmed in Toronto). Its quite funny with really quirky characters.
Recommendation would be "Entourage" it is so good, and so true of hollywood. They are doing a great job of showing the "inside" of hollywood and how things really get done, I wasn't sure the first few eps that it would fly but since HBO have been re-running the first season I'm hooked and I must say they have wonderful guest stars. :)
Not sure about this season of Arrested Development, they seem to have lost something, just not sure what yet. LOL
I made green tea/ginger ice cream the other night and OMG it was so good...a must try :)
Damn Furlings. Just got the buggers out of my garden and now you're bringing them back!? *LOL*
Stick with Bab 5. .season 3 is the best!
Mr. Mallozzi, you are too funny...."Which I won't reveal at the moment so you'll just have to wait for the SciFi promo." Hee!
Oooh, Nanaimo bar ice cream sounds soooo good. I haven't had a Nanaimo bar in ages--but I haven't forgotten how good they are.
Recommendations? Really? Well, you asked for it! Um, I don't know if they are available, but I really enjoyed the Beauty and the Beast and the Alien Nation TV series, and also Legend (alas, cancelled before its time). Oh, and the Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. *sigh* I have strange taste, I know. As far as movies go, Dark City was really good and I also enjoyed The Thirteenth Floor.
So when Gen'l Landry comes back, SG-1's first clue that he's an android is, "Kamtraya?"(sp?). That would definitely tip me off.
I know this has been suggested, but you should really watch Veronica Mars. It's an awesome show. Also, Firefly is a good show. It might be stark but it has a good story and an interesting character base. Adam Baldwin is really good in that show. Also, you should watch the BBC series Coupling. It's a really funny show. The humor is incredibly insane. It's supposedly the British version of Friends but it surpasses that show hands down. It's so funny that you'll want to begin or end your day with some really great chuckles. I think it's important to laugh everyday. It's very calming.
The funny thing is, a couple of these sound like really decent story ideas I wouldn't mind seeing.
4. Mitchell is a mole for The Trust who has a change of heart about his employers and turns on them before season's end.
I actually like this storyline and would love to see it happen..so get to writing it already!
5. Landry is kidnapped while on an off-world diplomatic mission. He is rescued at episode's end, but it won't be until much later in the season that we realize the Landry we saved is an android and the real Landry is still off-world.
Another really interesting idea.
6. Teal'c gets married.
Ishta could come back..I'm all for that. I'd love to see Ishta and Vala go up against each other. Oh and Bra'tac would have to be there too. I think he and Vala would make a cute couple LOL.
7. Carter discovers she is a latent telepath.
Well she was put through Nirtti's DNA scrambler. Who's to say that Sam wasn't left with something like that. It's doable and would be interesting to see.
So get writing:)
I know numerous people have asked you guys about this a lot but please can we have a resolution on the Furlings issue, whether they are extinct and if so how it occurred or if they are around somewhere and the SG teams just haven't found them yet??
Fortunately, the Sci-FI channel in the UK doesn't have the rights to Stargate SG1 and Atlantis, but I do have one problem with the company in question, why cut down the start of the two programmes, cutting them that short is ridiculous.
One other matter, you wouldn't happen to know why it takes so long to get the Season in a box set when the individual volumes are already out in the UK?
Concerning recommendations, I think you should continue watching B5 up to the end of Season 4, season 5 is a bit of a disappointment.
Keep up the good work
Josh Selig
Spoilers lead to decay.
Decay leads to rot.
Rot leads to stench.
Stench leads to disease.
Disease leads to death.
Death leads to decay.
Decay leads to rot
Rot leads to...
:p
Love your blogs, Joe. Very fattening, but fortunately the laughter helps burn off those ice cream carbs. :D
Oh, and, I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for that steel-cut Irish oatmeal ice cream tip. Great stuff!:)
Spoilers, Spoilers, Spoilers, I despise Spoilers! Thanks for the heads up Joe, I taped last week's episodes because I was on vacation. Now I know to skip those trailers after the eps.
Recommendations? If you're into detective series, try Remington Steele. It's an 80s series starring a very young Pierce Brosnan. Or if you want to go the British route, try Campion (another detective series).
Loved the fake spoilers, but I had to laugh, when I read #5.
I agree with you on the promos from SciFi. Sometimes they show you a promo that gives most of the good stuff, or others the promo is all about the B plot of the episode and you have no idea that the episode is about something else, (check SGA Duet promo).
I was thinking that SciFi has changed the person who usually did the promo for the shows, because the promos for last season were really, really good. And now it looks like they have an amateur with no sense of direction doing those promos.
Anyways... rant is over. Loved the really small spoiler for those episodes, even if I have to wait until next year to see them. And if you want to watch a really, really good show, watch The Shield. I don't know if someone has said it before, but that is one awesome show, it could be a bit shocking sometimes, but it gets you instantly hooked.
Stick with B5 after a short respite. There is some cheese(Grey 17 comes to mind as an example), but the characters G'Kar and Londo only get better. You really need to see "The Fall of Centauri Prime" to see the result of their association.
Season 5 starts poorly, but I very much enjoyed the episodes that focused on these two.
you mean you'll leave babylon 5???Right when things start to happen??? The first two seasons are just warm up for the 3rd and 4th!!!
Anyways, I could recommend Farscape (though you might have seen it ;) ), 24, Lost and the new Galactica. These are simply the best recent TV shows. For other tastes: The O.C., Desperate Housewifes, Smallville.
Cya
Spoilers! Haaa!
Fell off the chair laughing so hard - I think I broke a rib.
More please.
I was fascinated by the last 5 minutes of Six Feet Under also. I'd be interested to know your interpretation of it.
I'd rec the new HBO series Weeds; pretty edgy, especially the woman who may be the worst mom ever depicted. Also Lisa Kudrow's Come Back. Dripping irony there. Entourage I don't really get, honestly. Are all Hollywood people such jerks?
Oh, I would SOOOO love to see "Stargate: The Musical". Please!? ;)
Ok, I have to know what the two interpretations of the finale montage of Six Feet Under were. You've got to tell what the aspect was that made you insomniac. I loved it, and found it very bittersweet. It warmed my heart and made me tear up at the same time. Wonderful end to a fantastic series. Can't wait to rewatch it all on DVD.
Hahaha! 8 and 9, please! Hilarious. :)
I was wondering about that SciFi promo... it seemed like those were pretty important parts to be showing. I'm officially annoyed with SciFi now. First they cut down the opening credits, and now they're spoiling episodes. Sheesh!
Joe honey, you think *you* have spoiler problems? Come to the UK where we've been putting up with 'O'Neill and Carter are lost in Antarctica' 'Solitudes'back as far as season 1!
A spoiler showing a gravestone marked 'Here lies Buffy Sommers..etc Buffy's 'The Gift' end of season preview to name but two... All I'm saying is, you aren't the only ones..
As to what to watch...? I recommend Disney's 'Atlantis' invite a lawyer friend and you'll be able to finance up to season 15 of SG1!
I particularly liked your "spoiler" about the furling ;-)
"waiting for the furlings" has become a fan obsession on many websites since we first heard about them, and I kind of would like a furling story myself. Although if we're in need of some "little furry aliens" we might just as well watch StarWars episode 6 ...
As for your rant about anonymous posts, I myself post that way cause I'm too lazy to try & find out a cool pen name. I know it's not nice, but I'm way too lazy...
*rofl*
My stomach is hurting from all the giggling I did with those "spoilers" you posted. Too funny!
I saw a comment about "Weeds" and the previews look promising.
Quote : One other matter, you wouldn't happen to know why it takes so long to get the Season in a box set when the individual volumes are already out in the UK? End of quote from Joshua Selig post
Wow... So long to get a box set in the UK ? Here in France, where the TV episodes are shown months after the UK, I just got my SG1 Season 8 box set TODAY ! And SGA season 1 box set is pre-ordered for SEPTEMBER 6TH.
We are in the same region as the UK. It's not fair that MGM sees fit to release the box sets at different times in the same area.
7. Carter discovers she is a latent telepath.
You've been watching too much B5 ;-)
I have a great recommendation for you: Firefly.
If you have not yet seen it, I highly recommend it. There is some great dialog in that show, awesome action sequences, and a good bit of humor thrown in. Guess you would kind of expect all that from Joss.
There are only 14 episodes to the series, as it got canceled far to early in its life. Not that I don't understand why (A western in space can be kind of hard to wrap your head around). The plus side is the series got revived as a movie, Serenity, and is coming out Sept 30th. The movie will act as a sort of condensed 2nd season.
Yeah I didn't get Entourage either when I first started watching, but now that I've "caught up" in re-runs it makes sense, I really feel sorry for Vinny Chase...just trying to do what he likes doing for a job and so many people grabbing....and there are a lot of jerks in hollywood ;)
Oh, as for a movie, if you haven't seen it Mel Gibon's, Papparazzi is fabulous..I'm sure some have thought of doing the same thing, the papparazzi really needs limits..but....
also Constantine was awesome, dark but good. Really there has been a dry spell as far as good movies go, everything is a remake.
Waiting for the new CBS show with Brent Spiner...looks creepily good I mean what would be more creepy then aliens who send a message to earth, but that message re-writes human DNA....
as for ice cream, Coconut/Irish Creme with toasted coconut...FABOOooooo
I love SG1 & Atlantis. I love Vala. Daniel deserves someone with some personality and "moxie". I am an older women [and a librarian to boot] and I love Vala's outfits. They are really a hoot!
Current TV shows
The Closer, 24, Veronica Mars
Old shows
Due South
Movies
Momento, Amelie, Lost in Translation
I enjoy reading your blog. Some of the comments are a little nasty for my taste. I don't understand why they bother to read your blog!
THE Best Programme to watch:
BOSTON LEGAL
James Spader (Daniel Jackson in the film Stargate)
He still has what it takes.
I vote for Stargate: The Musical and you can bring back Urgo for a nice sing song of Row, row, row your boat lol.
I always thought the Furlings would look blue, blue and fury people. Are we going to see anything about the Furlings in the future?
To whoever said this: "Come to the UK where we've been putting up with 'O'Neill and Carter are lost in Antarctica' 'Solitudes'back as far as season 1" We have season 8 showing again, week nights on Sky One. Citezan(sp?) Joe was on tonight which has to be the best clip show yet.
People have been recommending Coupling, get the UK version not the US version. In the US they re-cast the show and shot the exact same thing but some of the jokes were lost because the UK-ness went out the window. Same goes with The Office-the UK version is so much funnier. Btw, Dr Who is great-long live the Darleks!
Dear Mr. Mallozzi,
How did you get started in the business?
How would one get a job working with the development team or intern for you?
Love the blog, and when are you going to start selling ice cream (some flavors sound great... others not so much) :D
TV shows... you might like
The 4400
Veronica Mars
and a movie to laugh at...
Knight rider 2000 (what were they thinking - although I think they should totally remake the show [and yes, I know all about viper])
and even a better joke is...
Knight rider 2010
Oh yeah the UK version of Coupling was very good, but the sodding uptights in the US, the US version stank LOL
Stay away from the new Starved, stupid, gross and not at all funny.
Of course this from the person who just now finally got caught up on Buffy and saw how that all ended LOL Hey what can I say work work work.
I wasn't too fond of Six Feet Under, probably b/c I used to work at the coroner's office, death isn't as interesting to me. :)
Yeay for misinformation! Confusion is the the best way to nullify spoilers. You forgot Spoiler 12. Teenage O'Neill Clone becomes an Ascended Ancient and stops the Ori.
I watched 6 Feet Under since the beginning. Great show! It went beyond The Sopranos in what characters can do and say and still be sympathetic and funny and real about death. I did not love the first half of the final season, but the last 5 episodes were classic 6FU. If you’re looking for more of those elements in a TV show, then Rescue Me is a good option. Completely different characters, but similar concepts; Dennis Leary plays a very messed up person who could live next door to anybody. And he’s the guy who’s supposed to save you in a fire!
Battlestar Galactica is an excellent show, great drama. Strongly suggest starting with the mini-series and season 1 before jumping into Season 2.
Entourage is very funny. If these characters are truly representative of Hollywood PTB it explains why there’s so much crap on film and TV. Ari and Drama are the highlight characters for me.
The Closer – if you like interesting characters with your crime show, this is for you.
To get on DVD if you missed or just to watch again – The XFiles, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly (oh, go for the Full Whedon and get Angel too), Farscape, Curb Your Enthusiasm (what Arrested Development tries to be). Animated shows - Pinky and the Brain, Ren & Stimpy, Angry Beavers, and Family Guy.
24 is also a good show. I expect the upcoming season of 24 will be even better with David Fury in the creative mix.
I am TiVoing HBO’s new show called Rome this week. I like the actor who plays Caesar.
Maybe give Babylon5 a break and then return. As others have said, it's a slow burn, but worth it.
What are Reverse S'mores? Marshmallow ice cream with little bits of chocolate and graham cracker? Caramel Bread Pudding sounds awesome.
Oh Nip/Tuck is very good. Can't wait to see what happens with the carver guy storyline..talk about killing off a major character.
No, wait...what? We're _NOT_ going to get "Stargate, the Musical"? But...but...it worked so well on Buffy and Xena! Aw, c'mon now, can't anybody on the team carry a tune?
Recommendations... Try Spooks (or is it MI5 in your part of the world...) Beautifully written, acted and shot.
What I can never understand is... If the show is so bad, then why are they watching it? Or, better yet, why not go out and propose an idea where everything stays the same, characters never change or grow and people never ever get new jobs!
But what do I know? I happen to be someone that enjoys both shows. Thank you very much. I'll be here for 10 and 3 if they happen.
Now for the important stuff!
Are you going to post any recipes for your ice cream flavors, or do we just have to guess?
Have a great day!!
Everyone has been giving such great recomendations for shows to explore, theres so many!!! If you would like something a litle bit different the Australian show McLeod's Daughters is really good (don't know if you can get it over there though I think its shown on the Hallmark Channel) Plus the show has a Stargate connection in the form of Simmone Jade Mackinnion who is Jason Momoa's Fiancee!!!
Ah, a new game--identify all the purloined plot twists!
You did catch Wonderfalls on DVD, right? I loved it. Humor and great ensemble work. Hmm, potential Stargate plot device: Carter hears God speaking through the blinky light units...
Tried brandied peach or brandied blueberry ice cream yet?
So who can we gripe to about the shortened credits?? They completely suck! Keep the controversy coming!
Don't play with me Mallozzi! J/K :p Those fake spoilers ROCK!! They are fake...right? Look man, I firmly believe an artists best stuff comes from jest. *hint hint* Anyway, awesome stuff. BTW, you watch Alias? Watch it, it rocks. :D
...and p.s, I find chocolate/coconut/granola are killer in any form. Unless you've already done it, you could whip up a gelato with that or something. I made one, wasn't bad. I can make my own fudge with coconut milk, honey and chocolate. Divine. It may be simple, but that's what makes the Italian ice cream desserts so tempting. even better, extra dark chocolate/strawberry/coconut swirl. You can put coconut in anything, seriously. ;)
Forgive If I'm too casual, I talk that way. :-S
cinnamon/honey ice cream it is awesome
but really nothing beat the lemoncello sorbet, made with lemoncello from Sorrento Italy ;)
nor the real lemon gelato in sorrento italy...DANG I wish they exported those Sorrento lemons
Hi Joe,
I agree with you about the unbelievable last five minutes of the Six Feet Under series finale. It was amazing and so unexpectedly heartwrenching that by the end of it, I was in tears. It was beautiful. I still tear up thinking about it. That episode alone deserves an Emmy.
Go the extra mile with Babylon 5 and watch through Season 3. After that, it you want to switch off, ok, but you really do need to see Season 3.
Sela :)
hi, joe. have you considered watching xena: warrior princess? it had comedy, drama, major drama, and they even did a couple of musicals. don't let the show title fool you; that show rocked!
try it joe, it's different.
you'll love it.
love it.
give me money.
you'll love xena!
Hi Joe...
You've got to watch B5 at least up to Season 4... it's just an amazing build-up to an unexpected turn of events...
Are you sure you don't watch BSG... *eyes J. Mallozzi suspiciously* One of those spoilers (#5) sounds suspiciously like something out of BSG.
Let me add my voice to the chorus yaysayers... BSG is a mindblowing, compelling piece of television...
P.S. I love what the team is doing with the characters on Atlantis this season.
E.Lily
Can we expect to see Enrico Colantoni again in Season 9? I really loved his Burke.
Have you guys considered getting Bruce Campbell to do a guest spot on SG1?
Can't wait for this weeks episdes! I was sad to see Vala go but maybe she could come back for an episode in a later season *hint, hint* Anyway, you just have to check out Veronica Mars. Amazing show, really. Don't be turned off because it's about a teenage girl, it's very well written and well acted. Season 1 is coming out on DVD October 11th, you should really check it out :). I also really enjoyed Fiefly, which has become something of a cult thing. The movie Serenity is coming out in September and I think this one is out on DVD. And I have to say, great job with the show so far this season. I was kind of wary because Jack's character left and Carter wasn't there for the first bit, but the show really does feel fresh again. I think having Vala around helped a lot and the Ori are a brilliant idea. oh, do you think you could put jellybeans into ice cream? or would that just be weird?

^^ nice joke. I hope we get to meet the furlings...sometime...
attack the gas station! hilarious movie! watch shiri if u haven't yet. aweseome movie. same with tae guk gi. too bad u didn't come to AE05. it was great.
You are a hoot! I loved the fake spoilers! Drats upon Scifi! I don't read anything anymore out of fear!
How do you come up the flavors of ice cream you make? Do you sit around and brainstorm at home or work? Wish I could taste some of those goodies. yum.
The shows that I thought were well done are 24, BSG, Highlander, Firefly, Sopranos, Nip Tuck, Lost and Rescue Me (some of these are on the more crass side, imo). The one episode of The Family Guy that I saw was very funny. Have you ever seen Craig Furguson's talk show? He kills me, he is so funny. His monologues are the best thing out there!
Thanks again and keep up the great work!
Holy crap, 63 comments. I may as well be #64.
Loved the spoilers. :D
Heh. The BBC did the exact same thing with its trailers for the new Series of Doctor Who. I mean, whats the point of trying to convince us in the middle of the episode you have killed one of the characters, if you know they can't possibly be dead as the promo for last week showed them in scenes that haven't been in the episode yet...
I took to just closing my eyes and covering my ears and humming loudly.
dont forget spoiler #811
Carter buys nintendogs for the nintendo DS, adopts a golden retriever puppy named spunky and leaves sg-1 in persuit to 'adopt 'em all'.
i'm glad you liked attack the gas station! there's a movie by the same director i think called kick the moon. i hear its pretty good but havent had time to watch it yet.
school beginning + nintendogs = no time to watch movies or seek out any obscure weird things!
Just wanted to say that I like the prop additions to Atlantis this year. Noticed lots of sofas around, love Weir's office, noticed more plants. Small things make a difference. I like the way they are sitting around her office discussing things too.
I believe Ben Browder is getting top billing for Stargate-SG1. On paper maybe, but he is one of the LATEST NEW CHARACTERS in the show. So,like everyone else he will actually have to EARN his way up to the TOP. It is the Fans who decide who deserves top of the popularity chart.
"Prep began on The Scourge and The Long Goodbye (which will allow Tori to flex more than her acting muscle as Weir "opens a can of whup ass" on Sheppard)."
PLEASE tell me this doesn't mean that you and the other PTB are seriously considering making something romantic between Sheppard and Weir? I realize there is some fan support for it, but, the whole idea is repulsive.
Consider this a heartfelt plea from all the fans who *don't* want to see that happen.
Suzanne
Are you sure you don't want to make the team sing? Okay, the whole team might be a bit much, but you can't make Teal'c sing Jaffa showtunes while the rest of the rest of the team goes for help?
"The Long Goodbye (which will allow Tori to flex more than her acting muscle as Weir "opens a can of whup ass" on Sheppard)."
See, now you have my fannish little mind all intrigued. And right before I move to a land with no Sci-Fi channel. You are an evil, evil man.
Keep on doing a ridiculously good job; it gives young hopefuls like me something to look up to.
Never joke about Hathor 2 !!! ;)
You don't know how much I would like to see Hathor again, or at least Suanne Braun in SG1 or Atlantis !!
And I can't wait to see "The long goodbye", so for me it's the long expectation now!!
Loved your spoilers.
Just for fun or to test one of them?
As for new shows, here is 2 series that are only available trought internet. I know they are based on the 'star trek' universe, but they are great and people behind are doing a great job for non professional.

Marc.
Poor Joe. I've said before that the split season seems to lead to second-half spoilers.
After your comments about the current promos, I'm glad (a) I'm not paying attention to them, and (b) I'm staying spoiler-free online.
As for the "spoiler list", LOL! I needed a good laugh. Volunteering at Red Cross overnight...San Antonio chapter is supporting disaster relief for Hurricane Katrina.

(See above) Should have linked to the American Red Cross website, not the local:

Initially I was going to comment that it would be really cool for your kidding spoiler number 7 to be reality eventually, but then I realized that it's been done a few times. Maybe you could bring a new male regular character that is telekinetic??
"5. Landry is kidnapped while on an off-world diplomatic mission. He is rescued at episode's end, but it won't be until much later in the season that we realize the Landry we saved is an android and the real Landry is still off-world."
Strangly enough, that sounds just like this really twisted fanfic i read where the same thing happen to General Hammond. Don't go looking for it.
try dead like me..it's a good show that should have been renewed.
Dear JM,
Someone said they'd pay to see the "Spoiler" re: the singing natives. Wouldn't it be cool if a fan (or two) wrote a script and had some people act it out at a Con just for fun, or even filmed it and put it on a fan site somewhere?! How about a silly fake spoiler segment on your blog? You could do one each week! Or us fans could do a silly spoiler/ parody section on gateworld or another fan site. I know someone did parodies of the ten-sec. openers.
On a different note, could you PLLLLEEEEAAASE see if there is any way of having a blooper segment on the season nine DVD set? Or, if this hasn't been done yet, how about a special disk of just bloopers from all the seasons? *Quita's eyes grow big and sad, and her lower lip could hold that icky cardboard pizza your production office ordered.*
Also, I wanted to give a HUGE second on the Due South program. Why is it that so many of the really intelligent, creative shows get canceled so quickly? Like Legend. Wow, what a combination! |) I was SO excited about that one! GRRRRR! Man... and Briscoe County JR., too! Anyway, I'll sign off now 'cause I have no original recommendations. ;p keep up the blogging!
In Christ,
Quita
*giggle*
Stargate the Musical, I can see it now...*cue rap intro*
Yo, we go 'round in space, through a great big Gate and we usually get shot and come back late and we get fixed up to get shot again and the Gate goes 'round and 'round IT SPINS! Break it down, Teal'c! *Teal'c breakdances* *end dancing with a very DMX-ish hey*
It's late. Don't mind me.
You made me giggle. And that rap was all made up on the spot, so if you wanna call me to write up that episode, feel free...it's VERY late, okay?
DUDE! If anyone one of those comes to fruition it must be number 9!
A native should be wanting to crack on to Carter which forces Daniel and Mitchell to sing "Uptown Girl" to prove there loyalty to her.
Then the entire team can teach the natives "Unskinny Bop" for the finale.
I just heard that the Food Network in the US is holding an ice cream contest. If you come up with a flavor and win, Hagen Dazs will sell you flavor all of the US. It's worth sending a sample, huh?
Hey Joe,
Great Blog as ever, as a constant transatlantic traveller there's a few shows on both sides of the pond that I think you should check out.
US - The 4400, Veronica Mars
UK - HEX, Shameless, The Smoking Room, and hey why not - Doctor Who.
And the UK film Layer Cake is a must see!!
Joe - love your sense of humor. Don't know where your patience comes from, but wherever it is, good on you. ;) Cheers.
