December 13, 2005

I'm sorry to hear that FOX pulled the plug on Arrested Development, the funniest show on television (as opposed to that lame sitcom with the obnoxious father married to the hot wife - Hey, if you don't know which one I'm talking about, take your pick).

I've noticed more and more friends getting off the Lost bandwagon. And I guess I can empathize. As much as I enjoyed the first season, the second season has progressed at a snail's pace. Whereas Seinfeld was a show about nothing, it feels like, this season, Lost is a show about a lot - where nothing happens. That said, I'm sticking it out mainly because of Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje's Mr. Echo and Josh Holloway's Sawyer.

Finished season 4 of Alias and I realized long ago that the way to really enjoy this show is to accept it as pure scifi (Prophecies and Zombies and Clones, oh my). I'm really looking forward to checking out episode 2 of season 5 which seemed to enrage so many fans.

Speaking of which - over 550+ comments on my last blog entry. Lots of angry Carter fans. Lots of angry Daniel fans. Lots of angry Jack fans. Not so many angry Teal'c fans. Come on, angry Teal'c fans! Let's hear from you!

Well, we've started spinning for season 10 of SG-1 and season 3 of Atlantis. I believe the deals are almost done and we have our line-up set. Last week, we concentrated on Atlantis, coming up with 10-12 story ideas and spinning five. I'm especially looking forward to "Delicious Fat Guy" and "Wraith Fight Club" although, sadly, I have a feeling these clever titles will change.

Meanwhile, the back half of seasons 9 of SG-1 and 3 of Atlantis are shaping up nicely as we wade through the endless mixes. Wil Waring did a phenomenal job directing Collateral Damage which is one of the darkest SG-1's we've done in a while. Maury Chaykin delivers a terrific return performance as Nerus in Off the Grid. Check out the great job our visual effects team did on the Scourge creepy-crawlers. Over on the Atlantis side - "colorful" doesn't begin to describe the characters in The Tower (and I mean that both literally and figuratively). Connor Trinneer is damn good as Michael in the episode of that name. Just a solid, solid actor. And speaking of performances, check out the tireless David Hewlitt in Grace Under Pressure. Great.

Have hit a dry spell on the anime front. Am sloughing my way through Android Kikaider, Gravitation, and Midori Days that, so far, rate a solid "meh" (although Midori Days does get extra points for a pretty wild premise). I'm also watching Dual, the best of the lot. On the movie front, I watched "H", a Korean movie described as Seven meets Silence of the Lambs. Its was alright. Also caught 3-Iron which I liked a lot until the movie's last half hour where it progressed into the world of the surreal. On the t.v. front, I'm still working my way through Futurama (I'm not sure which season). Every episode has at least 2-3 gags that have me laughing out loud. Fave all-time episode so far: Bending in the Wind. I'm also watching the first two seasons of Outer Limits (a crappy, edited release comprised of what I can only assume are randomly selected episodes from each of the show's first two seasons). As you'd expect from an anthology show, the quality of the individual episodes ranges wildly, from the brilliant (Trial by Fire) to the hilariously crappy (From Within).

I've always been better pitching on paper than delivering verbal pitches, so I wrote up a bunch of story ideas for both shows: Extreme Measures, In the Darkest Recesses, The Kindred, Suffer the Children, Yesterday Today and Tomorrow, The Tainted, and Morpheus. I do know that Brad liked Morpheus. Yesterday Today and Tomorrow is a time travel story (x2) that I've wanted to do since last year. Extreme Measures would be fun to do, especially for its "Holy &^%@!" tease. In the Darkest Recesses would give me the opportunity to put Michael, I mean Daniel, through the ringer. The Kindred would be a fun Atlantis episode that would allow our characters to play their darker sides, and The Tainted is just a cool, old-school scifi story. Well, guess I'll find out what makes the cut on Tuesday.

Thinking of heading down to San Francisco for a couple of days. Can anyone recommend some great restaurants. So far, I've heard Gary Danko, Masa's, and La Folie are the places to to.

Well, I live in Cheshire in the UK but I reccomend

Cafe Riace
Address: 206 Sheridan Ave., Palo Alto
Phone: 650/328-0407
Hours: Dinner nightly 5-10pm; lunch Mon.-Sat. 11:30am-2pm

I know Palo Alto isn't exactly in SF but it's food is fab.

And it has the floozy in the fountain -

Which is worth going to see all by itself.

Teal'c for President!!!

Last time I was in San Francisco we went to Michael Mina's Union Square Restaurant it's a seafood-centric restaurant in the Westin St. Francis Hotel. Fabulous Wine list, pricey but I found it worth the price for a great meal before going to the theatre.

Hey Joe,

What is up with Teal'c? His character regression has almost been worse than Carter's this season. He says absolutely nothing, his "big Jaffa arc" is really playing like a poorly written "C" storyline, and he's hardly to be seen in the episodes. I guess if he had huge knockers or used to play a character on Farscape he'd have a better chance of doing something this season. As is, he's only been slightly more involved than Mitchell, who hasn't been involved at all. Leader of SG-1? Indeed. And, while on the subject of Teal'c, why exactly did he return to SG-1? Hell, why did any of them return to SG-1? Can you guys please try and explain something this year? You know, maybe give at least a crappy excuse as to why things are operating so illogically and why the characters are acting so out of character?

Hey, you asked for some Teal'c anger. I just don't want you to delude yourself into thinking, "Whew! At least we haven't compelely ruined Teal'c". You have. Face it, you've totally screwed up on everything this year. Everything. Carter, Teal'c, and Daniel deserve better than the crap you've been churning out.

PS
Hey, any new writers coming aboard for season 10? You guys really need them.

So I take it you're on board for next year if you're coming up with pitches. ;)

Lost's pace this season didn't annoy me until the latest ep where the big "shocker" moment wasn't remotely surprising and it was the least challenging move they could have made. Nothing of any importance happened in the entire ep and that combined with the fact that the first two eps basically took place in the same timeframe and, yeah, it's too slow. Not enough to make me bail, yet, but maybe enough for me to decide to catch Veronica Mars or Criminal Minds instead and catch up on Lost later. Maybe I could try downloading it on itunes. LOL! Although something tells me it isn't worth $2/ep.

If you're looking for good anime, you should try asking Kirby Morrow (Capt. Kleinman of the Daedalus) next time you see him. He does a lot of voicework for the genre, so he may know of a few things. And pester Rainbow, too, of course. :)

I'm interested in seeing Miyazaki's version of Howl's Moving Castle. I wonder whatever happened to that...

Omugod! Is it December already? When I got up this morning it was November 13

Seriusly though, just watched 'The Powers that Be' Great show! I particularly like tha there was no last minute technobabble solution to the dilemma. You've got a great thing going with the Ori threat - don't mess it up by letting the characters take the easy way out with some deus ex machina tech solution! Let's see a real way to beat the Ori...

Start by having Daniel brush up on his speech skills. I hate the Ori but even I wasn't convinced by what he had to say int his ep. It's not for him or anyone else to say that the Ori are 'false' gods. What is a true god? Each of us must decide for himself whether to view the Ori as gods. A better argument would tackle whether or not it is in our interests to worship the Ori, whether we see them as gods or not. After seeing the last ever episode of Six Feet Under I'm glad that the sense of loss I'm feeling won't be repeated with SG1 anytime soon!

As for Atlantis... Afetr the first half a dozen or so episodes I've developed strong feelings about where this show is headed. So strong in fact that I really need to take time before posting publicly about them. Also I feel I should see a few more episodes before judging further. Since you're coming up with ideas for next year right now I would humbly suggest however that you would do well to think about whether or not telling stories that could be so easily done on SG1 is really the way to go...

Until next time, take care of yourselves!

I suppose it's too early for you to give us specifics on any of the ideas you've pitched for next season (and I assume this means you'll be back - if so, congratulations), but In the Darkest Recesses is a very intriguing title, and the idea of anything that puts Daniel thru the ringer has definitely got my attention. Any way you can work Teal'c into that story?

Well, that's made my day. Here's to another 20 or 30 seasons each!

Really excellent way to kick off Season 9. No rest for the weary in that three-parter. The burning really yanked the rug out from under my feet, and I loved it. I hope we'll be seeing Vala again soon. I know there are those who would smack me upside my head for saying that, but she's really helped to maintain the Stargate spirit of irreverence.

If you were taking requests, I'd ask for more bodily possessions. It's always fun to watch one of the lead characters taken over by a disease or inhabited by a bad guy. I'm sure you've already got some of that cooked up, seeing as how it's a long-standing theme in the world of Stargate.

Sounds like season 3 of Futurama. You catch "Roswell that Ends Well" yet? That's my favorite.

Joe- you said:

Well, I can say the same about Stargate SG1 just replace "at a snail's pace" with cheap, sexual innuendo, sci-fi caricatures, lame excuses for why a new, inexperienced guy is co-leader, poor writing for said co-leader, etc., and you have got the exact same reaction for why a lot of Stargate fans are "getting off the [Stargate] bandwagon" - maybe this will emphasize for you how many of the real fans of Stargate feel (those fans that have watched for 6-8 years and helped to keep this show on the air and you and your PTB friends employed this long) by putting it in context of how you feel about a show you
enjoyed . . . .

When I say getting off the bandwagon it has several categories - first there are those that do not watch anymore, there are those, like myself, who once watched every ep, every Friday but who now only watch once in awhile and really do not care if they miss the show, and those that are still watching but are making critical and negative comments about the direction of the show and how it is being written (the majority of the fans right now seem to be in categories 2 and 3 - how long before they start to jump into category 1 . . . ?)

Joe - Has anyone figured out what to do with Carter in S10 yet without diminishing this once strong, intelligent, competent, female lead? How to use the character to her "full potential" without pushing her off SG1,and diminishing her role, in order to make the new guy look more competent so the fans will buy him as leader (the fans who won't buy him as co-leader or leader as long as Carter is around since it is illogical and makes no sense that a guy like Mitchell could come in and take the position that rightly belongs to a leader of Carter's caliber)? If not there are plenty of fans out here who can, and are ready and willing, to help, even though TPTB have professed many times that there are plenty of stories to tell, so many that TPTB feel they could go on for years.
I find it rather funny that for a group of PTB who make this claim some also say they don't know what to do with one of their lead characters, one of their most integral stars, one who is described by Damien Kindler as the "bedrock" of SG1, the "Obi-Wan-Kenobi" of the team without perhaps having to shuttle her between two shows "to make full use of the character's potential."

You also say: "Lots of angry Carter fans. Lots of angry Daniel fans. Lots of angry Jack fans."

Notice it is fans of the core, integral lead characters who are "angry" or more like disappointed and fed-up, the very fans some of who have jumped, or may be jumping, off the proverbial bandwagon if things continue to go down the path suspected from comments thus far. The very fans who have kept this show on the air this long.

Hey Joe,

First - kudos for reading even a third of the blog responses. I'm sure it made for some great, late-night reading. Just wanted to let you know that I'm going to stop insulting your intelligence by assuming that you're NOT aware of what to believe and what not to believe when it comes to this fandom. I'm sure you're well aware of our political shenanigans.

Second - Good to know you're on board for Season 10. Thanks for telling us about your pitches! Very cool. I guess that means things are progressing...

At the risk of opening a can of worms here, I'm hoping that means that any "brilliant plans" to make one of the long-time main characters into a "cross-over character" has since been axed. If not, well... You warned them, right? It's still a bad idea.

I still love SG-1. Still think the fandom is hilarious. Still have faith in your creativity. Still worried about S-10, though.

But I'm still very glad to see you've taken the plunge for season ten.

*team scenes.

*toned down vala. (so toned down she's gagged, tied up, and propped in a corner :p)

*NO one of the original cast is pushed aside, ignored, forgotten, or changed so that the NewPeople come off more important and useful.

*make season 10 the last. (then make movies with rda/jack included)

Don't forget about us Atlantis fans, Joe. We're just as pissed off as the the SG-1 fans when it comes to Carter crossing over to Atlantis. As has been stated often, Carter is a collossus of a character. All of the original SG-1 team characters are. To shove her on Atlantis just to make room for Cameron Mitchell and Vala is unfair to Sam Carter/Amanda Tapping, and it is also unfair to the cast of Atlantis. They are doing a great job building their own chemistry and their own show. Don't screw it all up just because you guys think that having Carter gone from SG-1 will make Mitchell and Vala more accepted.

No matter how good your intentions are, some character on Atlatis will have to sacrifice development and screen time in order to accomodate Carter. That's going to make alot of us Atlantis fans resent Carter's presence (see the Mitchell situation on SG-1 for an example of this) and it's not fair to put the character and actress in that position.

We were told when Atlantis started that there would be very little crossover with SG-1. Instead, there are a number of episodes in S2 that do in fact have MAJOR crossover elements. And if these rumors for S3 are true, then it's only going to get worse. Atlantis has to stand on its own if it's going to stick around after SG-1 goes off the air. Right now, with the way that stories are being written, I'm not sure that it will survive without SG-1 leading into it and lending it story support.

Please Joe, can you and the other writers try to settle things down next year? There are way too many major problems with SG-1 and Atlantis right now. Stick to making two seperate shows, hopefully without shafting any of the main characters. I know that new and shiny characters are, well, new and shiny. The luster wears off really fast.

Hi Joe,

As another Atlantis fan said don't forget us too. I'd just like to add to that sentiment. We love Atlantis and the wonderful cast over on that show. It's great and if you bring Sam over then some of our characters are going to have to make way for her and it's going to upset a lot of us fans. The cast have a great chemistry so please don't do this to us. Just because you are having trouble finding a place for her on SG1 she's just too big a character to come over to Atlantis and she will be resented just like Cameron/Vala and Sam/Amanda deserves better than that. Please keep her on SG1 and leave Atlantis alone, it's a great show and is more than capable of standing on it's own two feet. The cast are the best, they rock so please let them develop.

So Joe:

If 2 of the stories pitched already are "Carter stories" is that because Carter will continue to play a lead, core and integral character on SG1 or is it because early on in S10 you have to write in why Carter's role is diminishing on SG1 so by default the early stories have to be "Carter stories" to explain it?

I don't particularly want to see her on Atlantis because I find all the relationships and interactions there good, but I don't see that Sam is such a collossal character that she'll outshine any of them. Far from it, I think everyone of them has so much personality that they'll outshine her, even the second string characters.

Teal'c has become a non character,
Carter is neither here nor there.

The Jaffa need to refind their strenght
of purpose when this is done, Teal'c will
be stronger too.
swapping Carter between atlantis and Sg1
Could actually work to help the new team
appreaciate her skills.
Therefor strengthen the whole new team overall.
Just enough so they miss her at Stargate command, not too much that she starts to look like an Atlantis Regular.
as for Daniel, Kill him, bring him back to life, kill him again, bring him back to life again.
he seems happy with that.
how ever in saying that, they are all important, the first team with oneill
took a while to find itself.
The fans should give it that little bit of time.

Thanks for sharing some of the pitching ideas. Hey, are you ever going to do more with your production diary published here at GW and at Solutions? I found those fascinating.

I'm a SG-1 fan from S2, and I'm optimistic about the back half of season 9--except for that spoiler involving an aspect of Vala's return...I'm grudgingly accepting Vala will be on S10, but I don't want to lose Sam, or Daniel, or Teal'c, and "New Guy" Mitchell is growing on me...in a good way.

Here's hoping the next half aired have all four doing scenes together (it helps with the team bonding). Ties that Bind held up better than I thought on multiple viewing, but Teal'c wasn't there much, and Vala was just a stand-in until the band really got back together. :-)

OK, I've got two here. First, Joe, if you ever do a gladiator episode with John Sheppard and a wraith in an arena, I'm done with it. I put up with Defiant One. I won't put up with that too.

Second, never ever use a quantum mirror on Atlantis. There is already far to familiar a feeling with most Atlantis stories and far to much "borrowing", "recycling", and "refitting" of SG1 stories already. Carter is coming to town already this year and possibly staying for a while next (God help us). I'm sick of feeling like I'm watching SG1's little brother. Atlantis should be more than just the spinoff in people's minds, but now I'm worried it never will be. Even in your own.

But c'mon now, what about Teal'c?
I'm not an angry fan, but he could really use some attention from the SGC cafeteria lady, as played by Niecy Nash from Reno 911. :) She could give him extra whip cream on his pie, and save the last cup of jello for him. The man needs to eat before he attends those long-winded Jaffa Council sessions.

A big YAY for the return of Maury Chaykin.

Oi, Joe. You really know how to stir up controversy! Kudos on getting through I assume at least a third of those posts on the previous blog!
Glad you're pitching new stories for Season 10! Dark side is good! Means more character development and growth-which is essential for a show like SG1.
Angry Teal'c fans? Well, I'm a Teal'c fan and yea, I feel he's underutilized and all he says is INDEED, but I know you've got a great episode for him in the back half of the season right? Right? haha

Also, I'm glad SOMEONE agrees that all the good, well written shows are always the ones getting cancelled. Arrested Development and Futurama are two of my fave shows- and poor networking/scheduling ruined them. Bleh on networks.

I'm also one that is jumping off the Lost and Alias bandwagon...like you, I believe Lost is going nowhere, and Alias is getting to..fantasy like. ugh. What happened to the really good spy show?

If you want to check out another well-written show, I recommend Grey's Anatomy. Quirky characters with great dialogue. Love it.

Just say thanks to the rest of the crew for giving us these wonderful shows and I'm happy there is an S3 for SGA and S10 for SG1.

Take care and have a nice Xmas break!

Well, i could be upset about teal'c...but he really hasn't done anything since s8. Kinda hard to be upset about a character who's biggest character developments were to turn all whuny when he realized he lost his mojo, then to get whiny again when his son grew up without him.

I would love to see teal'c in something really challenging, like a retread of Lifeboat but let CJ do some acting (oh, and i take it back, he did get avatar, so he's on par with his one teal'c eps per season)

angry enough???? :)

as to carter episodes, boy do i hope there are some. as a Sam fan, Sam eps are the only really intriguing thing going on right now. I just hope she's not shunted to the side for Vala's sake.

to quote Sam, 'who says an sg team needs four members'.....why can't we have five? If we're to be subjected to Vala and her silly space baby, can we at least have a decent female character left on the show -as a full time member, not relegated to recurring?

greedy i know, but now that RDA is gone and Teal'c is his normal wall paper self and cam has yet to really do anything, Sam's the only intriguing thing for me at the moment

oh, it's not Anime, but check out HBO's Rome.

it does start slow, and definitely is on cable. enough violence and nudity to keep any network exec happy, but it also has a very engaging plot and they're not afraid to screw with their characters. shocking things happen and you never feel like anyone is immune

I watched for a few weeks, got behind, then got caught up and am just as hooked as i was.

It's because Stargate fans sometimes become heavily invested in the show and/or the fact that Joe makes himself available to us in his comments. People know that their critiques are acknowledged if not necessarily followed.

Therefore, posters request/order/demand:
more/less Sam
more/less Daniel
more/less Cameron
more/less Teal'c
more/less Vala
more/less SGA development.

Oh yeah, and dressing on the side.

Lost is completely surreal. I watch the show religiously, and even then I can never fully get into it because, well... they've been on an island for a year! They couldn't have built a few shacks? I can't wrap my brain around how completely without common sense they are. And how on God's green earth do they always looked so COIFED? If it were me on a deserted island, I'd have gone native two months in, and that isn't necessarily a good thing.

Futurama, hee!
Fry: I'm getting something. A headache with pictures?
Leela: An idea?
Fry: Yes!

Can't wait for Grace Under Pressure, being a huge McKay fan. And Carter is going to be in it! Sweeeeet. I like her a lot, and I think bringing her to the Pegasus Galaxy would be awesome, so long as... well, McKay doesn't become her bumbling sidekick. He doesn't deserve that, even if he blew up half (or was it three fifths?) of a solar system. A lil romance, maybe, possibly even bonding over mutual planet destructions. That I can deal with ;)

Have a great time in San Francisco!

Vala does nothing but dumb down the show and the characters. Everyone has to act out of character around her, Daniel most of all. He is NOT Vala's sidekick, though that seems to be the only way you guys know how to write him. Dump the slut. We'll all thank you for it.

Well, it sounds like you have no shortage of ideas. I hope when you say certain episodes are Sam episodes or Daniel episodes, etc. that you keep in mind that as much as we have our favorite characters, it's the *team* that makes Stargate SG1 special. In the old days, even in episodes that featured a storyline more geared toward one character or the other, the team was essential. The relationship between the characters, while having their adventures, is what makes us care. It's easy to blame RDA's schedule for some of the getting off the team track, but that certainly can't be blamed in S9.

Anonymous wrote:
10:20 AM     LINK

I agree with Anonymous.... the one that said the *team* thing.

Even in an ep like "the first ones" which one can term as a Daniel ep. There was still the rest of the team, doing some stuff, having good lines, caring about what happened to Daniel.

Compare that to Babylon. You had Mitchell and I guess the SGC was searching for him, but you never really got the sense they cared. And if they don't care, why should I care.

We need to have the team, like they were, actually working as a team and caring for one another. Mitchell has so much potential but it has not been used. Teal'c has not been used. Sam has not been used. Daniel has been "used" but its been in a lets just "use this guy for thie plot device" kinda way. Not in the "Daniel is a great member of SG-1 who I love" kinda way.

Lets do what you all promised at the start of the year and get back to basics. Lets rebuild this TEAM and have some good eps that show why they are a TEAM.

Anonymous wrote:
10:41 AM     LINK

And if the TEAM absolutely has to consist of Chris Judge/Teal'c, Michael Shanks/Daniel, Amanda Tapping/Sam, Ben Browder/Cam AND Claudia Black/Vala, then let it be so.

Let each of these characters shine as a member of a unit, a part of a whole.

Don't let Season Ten open as a continuation of the Daniel/Vala Series. That was just wrong on so many levels.

I am amazed! Has hell frozen over? Two well thought out, rational anonymous posts in a row (with no character or actor bashing). And I couldn't agree more - the team and their interactions is what make this show great. I just hope that you and the other PTB agree too, Joe.

Anonymous wrote:
11:10 AM     LINK

The problem right now is the Team. The structure of SG-1 is totally illogical and undefined. Mitchell is leader, why? Carter rejoined SG-1, why? Because she was ordered to? Teal'c is back at the SGC because? Ok, Daniel missed his ride to Atlantis, but I'm sure Carter, Teal'c, and Daniel all talked about reforming as a team, right? None of this makes any sense and none of it has been explained in even the slightest way. Even when the Team is out together, it seems that they're all doing their own things anyway. Mitchell does not lead. Carter, Teal'c, adn Daniel seem to run any given operation by just doing what they know needs to be done. This makes Mitchell virtually useless. For me, the best scene all season was in Prototype when CArter, Daniel, and Teal'c were in Anubis' lab, figuring out how to solve the problem, how to save the day. That is what SG-1 should be. All this talk of adding Vala to the team next year means even more nonsensical behavior and probably more non-explanation of character motivations. This once well structured military unit now looks like a hodgepodge of people who serve no purpose, work almost entirely seperately, and don't have even the slightest logical reason for being on the team or doing what they're doing.

Joe, you guys need to explain things. The team needs to make sense. Right now, it doesn't, and adding Vala will only make it crazier. Carter, Teal'c, and Daniel are the biggest characters in the Stargate universe right now. Mitchell should be learning from them. It doesn't matter what any fan groups think, it doesn't matter what those wizened studio executives think. This is about what makes sense for the story. With the way that things are written now, that's nothing at all.

Too bad about your anime slump, Joe. I couldn't get into Dual myself, it was too much like Tenchi with mecha. Neon Genesis Evangelion did the whole "boy must save the universe from evil in a kewl mecha" theme much better but with tons more angst. Rahxephon did it even better than Eva and it made more sense to boot. Great series.

Finishing up Planetes, which is a fun series about space debris collectors. I'm also slogging through Texhnolyze but man is it slow and odd.

And I'll second the Escaflowne movie recommendation, though the series is much, much better.

She's completely identified by the men who want to shag her, period. Forget the fact that it's the single most unoriginal Atlantis script ever. And that IS saying something. What is with you guys and the ever increasing puerile nature of the two shows? I cringe everytime Shep does his Spiderman thingy in Conversion. Was such a comic book move really necessary? And what's with down-grading Vala's personality from Prometheus Unbound? She was a partially serious character in that one. Now she's just a not so serious caricature. The Ties That Bind was obviously that anime episode you've always wanted to write, but the problem is it looked and sounded just like exactly that--a cartoon. There's a fine line between funny and campy and I'm afraid you've crossed it without any intention of ever going back.

Mini-series? I've never heard that one before. It really is both funny and sad.

I wish is were a damn mini series, because at least then it wouldn't be an actual part of the show.

Joe, if you really think that people are tuning in to see the adventures of Vala and her sidekick, you're terribly mistaken.

I was most sad for Daniel that whole time. Talk about off the mark, that guy deserved a different name.

That is NOT the same guy who freed the Abydonians, who opened the Stargate. That's just some buffoon with stupid facial expressions who blows out his breath in exasperation a lot.

Anyone who considers any gateworld poll as 'accurate' is in dire need of a reality check. It, like any other poll, can be easily rigged by anyone wanting to make a statement and create 'proof'.

Just like letter campaigns can be faked when the writers photocopy letters and forge peoples' names on them to make their group look bigger than it is.

the show will do whatever the network makes it do, plain and simple. I don't even think much of the blame for the turning of events this season can be laid at Bridge Studios' door - other than rob apparantly lacking the ability to tell Sony/MGM/Scif 'no' and his willingness to screw the characters over for a look or an image.

The show is slowly being killed by idjets in corporate offices who believe panel studies and statistics and accounts instead oflistening to the creative folks whose hearts and souls go into the shows.

we had them to thank for Anise, we have them to thank for the co-leader situation (lord FORBID a scifi now not have a leading man!!!!!!!!!!!) and we now have them to thank for the DAniel and Vala National Lampoon hour...no wait, national Lampoon was at least funny. This is more along the line of American Pie.

But, anyway, Joe is just as caught in the middle as we are...the only thing is he's dependant on these mokes for his paycheck while we're not
