Godspeed Don

My friend was surprised by how deeply I reacted yesterday to the news of the passing of Don S. Davis.
"He's just an actor for God's sake! It's not like you knew the man!".
True. I wasn't on familiar terms with Don, having met him only briefly. Just an actor? I don't think so.
I believe that you don't have to be on close terms with a person to recognize that their death poses a significant loss. In this case a loss to the arts, the craft of acting, and the world in general. My condolences go out to his friends and family and I encourage all those who have the means to donate to the American Heart Association in his name.
Godspeed Don. You will be missed.

Vancouver 2008

Another con has come and gone and, as always, it was a great time. As far as the con itself goes, it wasn't my favorite. I missed a few panels because they had some people outside of the ballroom signing autographs during panels and I was outside getting Kiwigaters FANTASTIC photobook signed during some of said panels. Still, other than the first con I attended, I can honestly say that I go for the chance to hook up with my friends from around the globe and, in that regard, this was BY FAR the best con I've attended. A good time was had by all, some more than others (you know who you are :D) and since, what with school, interning, working, and being a full-time single mom it's really my only chance to get out amongst adults and have some honest to goodness grown-up conversation. As far as what was discussed during the actual panels, I think that I'll leave that to others this year but special mention goes out to the money raised for B.C. Children's Hospital at the year's GW dinner.

Patience is a virtue

Well if Skiffy's plan is to get the fans frothing at the mouth in anticipation of the big press release they've certainly accomplished that goal by pushing back the press release another day. It could end up being nothing big but I'm gearing myself up for a big ol' bruhaha anyways. No matter who it is, the introduction of a new Atlantis commander will lead to the inevitable picking of sides in to the pro and anti camps and the relatively small amount of people in the middle who will be willing to sit back and wait and see how the new commander works out before passing judgement. Should be interesting.
