Sci-Fi Friday took a new turn for me :-)

This last Friday while everyone was enjoying a new episode of Dr Who and BSG I was standing in a receiving line greeting people coming into my Son's Wedding Reception.

Talk about surreal and feeling like an Alien in your own skin. I kept wondering when Rod Sterling or Forrest Whittaker would walk over to the side and say...."Life takes interesting turns and for Tame it has been a hairpin curve these last few days. Once she was a mild-mannered Mom and now she has just been thrust into the world of being the *Mother-in-Law*..... watch how things begin to unravel and she enters..... The Twightlight Zone......fade to black....

When you are the mother of the Groom things kind of happen all around you and then all of the sudden the spotlight is on you and you know what that deer feels like at that moment of sudden confusion and fear. Smile or flee are the only options. *Smile and Nod* become your automatic responses because everytime you look over at your son, he is only eight years old in your mind's eye and you wonder why in the world he is wearing that Tuxedo that is way to big for an 8 year old and why does he keep smiling at you like you are nuts??

Then you are told you have to dance with him in front of everyone and you wonder if he will feel silly looking up at you in your high heels. All of a sudden these arms wrap around you and give you a reassuring hug. You look up at this 6'2" man dressed in wedding elegance giving you an indulgent smile and a squeeze. You hear a deep voice saying "I love you Mom" and he begins to dance. It is at that moment that you realize that little 8 year old boy has grown into a wonderful man and all you can do is smile .......... and cry.

and the scene fades out.... welcome to the twightlight zone............

Some Good News

Well it sounds like Brad Wright is telling TV Guide that SG-1 will live on in a couple of Direct-to-DVD movies. Which is cool by me. Hopefully that means that they will have a bigger budget to work with and make some magic :-)

BSG premiered last week and it seems to have been received fairly well. I was impressed but not. I had my say in the BSG thread about that. Overall I am still loving BSG!

But I am looking forward to the new episode tonight. One step closer to them getting off the planet and one step closer to Lee losing some of that weight LOL

In other Good News.... The Forum got an upgrade and we have some cool new Mod toys and members have some new features as well. Unfortunately they have to work out all of the bugs for them to all work...BUT just the fact that they are becoming available is way cool!!

On a different note:

We seem to have a rash of fans that seem to think that Sci-Fi is such a screw up network that all of the shows on it should just get slammed. It bothers me that this mentality is even out there in the world.

It reminds me alot of an old High school attitude. "If you snub one of my friends, than I will not only snub you but I will snub anyone that supports you."

How helpful is that to the person being snubbed?? I just don't see the productive nature of this mentality. Sure your friend may be happy that you *Have their back* but in the end how are you really any better than the *snubber*?? You're not, so where did that get really get you in life...no where. Your friend is still snubbed and now you have made a bunch of innocent people feel awful as well. yay for you /sarcasm

The same goes for these other shows on Sci-Fi. slamming them or even blaming them for the cancellation of SG-1 is simply ludicrious IMHO. Did all of the people within the cast and crew of that show come out and point and laugh that SG-1 was cancelled...Nope not that I am aware of. So why would it be their fault to just be on the network isn't justification for slamming them. All of those actors, producers, directors, lighting guys, sound guys and even the caterers are just trying to do their own job and have nothing to do whatsoever with what Sci-Fi decides to do. But since you (general) can't get to Sci-Fi directly, you are going to use innocent bystanders to somehow think you are hurting them. *shaking head* I don't think they will get the message personally. But hey maybe a bunch of actors, producers, directors, lighting guys, sound guys and caterers will eventually lose their job too and you might have actually been a part of that in some indirect way...don't you feel so much better now..now the SG-1 crew won't feel so alone..../sarcasm

The whole thing just seems silly and immature to me.
I was completely bummed that SG-1 got cancelled and it gave a pallor to my whole day that day. BUT I don't blame anyone but the Sci-Fi execs and doing anything to cause yet another good show to be in the same boat somehow doesn't seem like the *Righteous* thing to do..it just seems pathetic.

I would like to see quality programming period so I give my time to any show that offers that in hopes that by doing so Networks and Execs will see that ...THAT is the type of programming that earns them $$$ not all of this crap that they keep trying out. I mean seriously just how many reality shows and red-neck (careful I am married to a redneck so I can say that ;-)) entertainment shows do we need?? So maybe rather than slamming the good shows that Sci-Fi has to offer just because SG-1 was cancelled. Be intelligent and write a letter, be polite and let them know you won't be tuning in for any inferior product since they choose to remove one of their Quality shows for whatever reason. But quit going after the innocents.... all that does is hurt others and make you look stupid.

and that is today's *Enlightenment Tame Style*

RUN don't walk!!!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Yes thats right Its time once again for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!!!!!

This has got to be the only redeeming thing along with Dr Who about my Friday nights.

I was happy that Skiffy at least started Dr Who right after showing the Mid-Season Finales for the Gates. Otherwise they would have been one viewer down until they put something worth watching back on the air.

I actually do like Eureka and Dead Like Me. However, Once CBS started their new season it was a no-brainer for me to turn away from Sci-Fi. Considering the crap they are airing every other night EXCEPT Fridays I lost any feeling of loyalty I might have had for them the moment they cancelled SG-1 right AFTER the 200th episode.

They could have waited a couple of weeks IMHO. At least that way they could have NOT looked like the opportunistic programmers they are.

I am not delusional, I know all NetWorks do what they do for the almighty $$ and if a show is costing more to make then it is bringing in then I see the need there is to bring an end to it. But Sci-Fi really doesn't have any kind of line up to begin with that is solid. they have a few and I stress a FEW shows that are doing well. I hope they have more and maybe we will see something from them regarding SG-1 or even Farscape for that matter. In fact I would almost rather see Farscape do another mini and see SG-1 do a feature like FireFly. I would really love to see some new writers though regardless of what happens to SG-1.

Rob Cooper is a good writer and so are many of the others. However they are recycling way to much. So maybe they could set some ego aside and allow some new blood to write either a TV Movie or a feature. As much as I am happy to say they know the characters...they really have lost touch with alot of the fans and WHY we love the show. Maybe there should be a new *psychosis* just for long term show runners/writers... we can call it the *Carter/Braga syndrome*

As excited as I am about BSG starting again, I worry that Ron Moore has been exposed to his Star Trek buddies too much and has a touch of this. He said something along the lines of liking that he can get fan reaction so fast on the internet but in the end he really couldn't care less what the fans say because he will write what he writes.. Ok *shrug* he can do that but after a while *Shock value* and *cutting edge* TV aren't all that and a bag of chips. So Ron don't follow in the foot steps of those Trek guys and get to caught up in your own creative musings... remember in the end, you really do want us to watch it ...or at least I hope you do :-)

Saying all that I am hyped that Kara, Lee, Admiral Adama et al are all coming back to grace my living room. Katee Sackhoff has got to be the break-out star of this show IM yet again humble opinion. Talk about a character that has had to overcome more things Starbuck is by far my favorite. I hope to be seeing this actress for many years.

Tricia Helfer is a dream in person, just about the most gracious, sweetest and humble woman I have had the pleasure of meeting. As much as I get tired of Baltar I love to watch Six manipulate the heck out of him :-)

BUT my falldownIhavemetaSTAR favortie is Mary. What can I say about her. Look up Grace and poise in the dictionary and you will find Mary McDonnell. What an actress!!!

And who doesn't want to drool over Lee Adama (this was not for you guys or at least most of you guys) Jamie Bamber is just flat out gorgeous!!!Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

BUT I will have to gag my way through any Lee/Dee scenes. Sorry that pairing just makes me yawn and get a little queasy. Not only have the writers ruined the character of Dee for me by turning her into a social climbing, back-stabbing, scheming wench but those two have as much chemistry as two sticks of wood in the rain...YUP basically just there , all wet and useless.

Of course my personal favorite pairing is Lee and Kara. Probably because not only do they make my TV steam up when they get together. But Starbuck and Apollo are MEANT to be together. At least in perfect world. So I am sure that doesn't help me get all giddy about Lee and the Purple Eye shadowed vamp. (I actually really liked Dee until TPTB did all the things they did to her) Deleted scenes mean nothing to me. If you didn't air it then it isn't canon and it means nothing. So if TPTB wanted me to see Dee in a more sympathetic light they shouldn't have left so much on the cutting room floor.

I am not a fan of Anders either. Mainly because he just seems like a *means to an end* character and by bringing extra love interests for both Lee and Kara things have gotten a tad soap operay (new Tame word)However I have found that PTBs don't seem to get that it is possible to write a couple with issues and make them compelling witout making them sleep with everyone else first...*shrug* ... I don't know I think after 20 years of marriage Hubs and I are still pretty compelling. We sure as heck ain't boring and if we were fighting daily for our survival...I think we would be fighting as well as loving with equal amounts of passion...But thats just me. I firmly believe that my life is too short for me not to find the enjoyment in it, even when it sucks!

So anyway I have my DVD ready to record and I have the list of songs I want to make videos to so BRING ON THE CYLONS!!!!

and that gaterites is *Enlightment Tame Style*Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
