I was going to write this whole post on standards in speech, how to be respected and give respect About how too often folks confuse this forum and the Internet in general as a place to drop all the dictates of polite society.
Then in the middle of writing I thought, "Why am I even bothering?"
The folks that have this in their character are already doing it and the ones that don't...really do not care what I have to say.
I think I am just annoyed at that fact in general.
I am not some sort of saint when it comes to being always calm and diplomatic. But I do know right from wrong. That I learned originally from my parents and then as I became a self-thinking individual learned even more on my own.
However, I know when I am playing with fire in the different arenas of fandom.
I won't discuss politics or religion on this forum. I don't think they have a place here outside of the full context of the shows. I am careful who I play with and around if I am going to be engaging in word-play and clever innuendo. The one thing I do take pride in...I am never rude to the point of being hurtful.
I guess that is why when I see some of the posts I do, or read a PM from someone who is...beyond ridiculous. I have to sit back and remind myself just how much I really like people in general.
Its funny, as a Mod I have to watch my P's & Q's most of the time, but I do let my hair down once in a while.
However, I spend time then explaining myself to a handful of folks who think that since I am a Mod I shouldn't play at all. I should be stern, direct and have no fun with the members.
I can see their viewpoint fine. However, I just disagree with them. I am getting tired of it all though. I want to be a fair-minded Moderator. So I try really hard to not have preconceptions of people, I try really hard not to play favorites in any way and I try to uphold the rules and have some fun all at the same time.
So the person I end up *censoring* in the end is just myself. Contrary to all those self righteous beings who think they should be able to say anything and everything on the forum.
So rather then write out a really long drawn out post on why it is ok for Mods to have fun and why this is not a public forum for anyone to abuse.
I will just say to those who feel that they should be able to call other people names, just because that is how they *feel* at the moment. To those who believe it is their right to be rude and obnoxious just because the other person is saying something they don't like. To those who think no one has the right to say anything bad about the show OR its characters/actors performances. To those who think no one has the right to say anything good about the show OR its characters/actors performances.
To those I say....get the *bleep* over yourself! Go read a book, Go outside and see some sun. Come back when you have some real life perspective and figure out that you are not the center of any of our universes. Grow up for heavens sake.
Cause ya know what...I am a fairly tolerant person and I am am sick of you. So imagine what all the less tolerant are thinking.... yep...that is what they are thinking ........
