So this is the last season of SGA.
Many are rallying to try to save the show in some way and more power to them :-)
I will never tell a fan not to do something because I personally agree or disagree with it. However I will say that I won't be joining in. WHy you ask. Well, after reading and listening to the interviews from TPTB I really don't think they want to do the show as a series anymore so all the pressure in the world from myself and other fans won't matter. They know we love the shows and they are counting on that for the movies they put out.
So to me I have to make a choice at this point. Do I, as a fan, deal with the reality as it is and get excited about what is coming up for my favorite characters or do I ignore this and get revenge by refusing to watch anything anymore.
Its really that simple to me. I have to either deal with things as they are or deal with them as I *wish* they were.
Since I am a big devotee of *being real* :-) I will go with dealing with things as they are. I learned a big lesson with this franchise a while back. Roll with what comes or get off the bus. As a fan you will like most of what happens on the shows and some of what comes on screen will be pure crap. But in the big scheme of things the good will always out weigh the bad.
I am a Stargate Show Lover. Does that mean I think every episode has been great..Oh heck no! Does that mean I think all TPTB know what they are doing... Oh heck no... Does that mean I will tune in each week and hope for the best... Oh heck yes :-)
So things being as they are, means I will be happy that SGA has a bigger budget to work with and hope for a great movie :-). Sadly I hear Joe Mallozzi is writing it. I personally am not a fan of his writing, so that puts a damper on things for me. I will wait to hear who is directing it. That may balance out what I feel is cliche' writing from JM et al.
Also we have a new series in the works. Since I have yet to see even one frame of footage I won't even pass judgment on that yet :-) I am a firm believer in giving shows a chance before I say yay or nay. So for now I am just excited to know Stargate isn't off the screen completely.
I was saddened to hear Brad say that he and Rob Cooper didn't see the need for any new blood or new writers for the new show. Its sad when folks don't see the forest for the trees. I can completely understand how both men want to be a part of things since they are the creative force of so much Stargate. However, when fans can list show after show on SG-1 and SGA that have the exact same premise and main plot line and yet neither of these men want to acknowledge that the ideas not only have been recycled but they have been thinly disguised as well. Then you really have to wonder just what is the real driving force behind some of this decision making. Creativity doesn't seem to be as high on the list anymore when its viewed by an outsider who has nothing to lose by saying so *shrug*
So I will wait and see. Comment only on what I know as fact from TPTB themselves and hope for a great show and a great movie :-)
However PTB I will leave you with an over used line from *Top Gun* . "Don't write checks that your ego can't cash*. Sci Fi fans don't just have long memories when it comes to the shows they love, they remember how they are treated by them as well :-)
and that is *Enlightenment Tame Style*
see ya on the flipside ...............
