What is the Forum to You?

Recently I had a discussion with an upset member who felt that all of the "games" going on in the were too much. He/she didn't understand why folks joined a forum just to play games and not have serious discussion about the show.
I had no definitive answer for that other than each fan celebrates their fandom in their own way and thankfully GW Forum accommodates that.
But it did get me to thinking. What is the Forum to you?
To me is like a virtual town/community with different neighborhoods. It has all the same things a town has. News, gossip, amusements and cultural events. The biggest factor for any town is the people in it. That is what "makes" the town what it is. So if you have a law-abiding town that is fairly peaceful and folks like to hang out there then those in positions of authority are doing something right ;)
But if you have alot of anger, folks seeming always tense and the tone of the overall forum, not just select areas, is negative. then the people in authority can only do so much because the town basically kills itself cause the residents will leave.
So in GW I feel we have an awesome town and I truly enjoy all of the people. I know we have our immature folk and we have our pompous folk and we have our "I am the only one who thinks right" folk. But its the diversity that makes up a town in the first place. :-)
If we were all the same and had the same ideas ad opinions then why would we have ventured out in the first place...everything would have been the same as if we never came in the first place.
So the Forum to me is a community and its my kind of town :o)
and that is Enlightenment Tame Style ;)
