This year's Official Stargate SG-1 Convention Tour visited Chicago, Illinois for the weekend of August 27-29, and GateWorld was on hand for the festivities! Hosted by Creation Entertainment, the convention drew hundreds of fans from all across the country and was highlighted by appearances from Amanda Tapping ("Samantha Carter"), Michael Shanks ("Daniel Jackson"), Christopher Judge ("Teal'c"), Don S. Davis ("George Hammond"), and Tom McBeath ("Maybourne").
Here's our day-by-day report on what turned out to be a whole lot of fun, including nearly 60 photos! Our thanks to Creation for giving GateWorld terrific, behind-the-scenes access to cover the convention for fans world-wide.

FRIDAY GateWorld was actually born in Chicago ... but only a few weeks before the convention, editor Darren Sumner moved to another part of the country! Friday was something of a homecoming. After more than a year of working together, it was also the first time GateWorld's editors had met face-to-face.The official festivities at the Radisson O'Hare hotel kicked off with special guest Tom McBeath! Tom first played Colonel Harry Maybourne in the Season One episode "Enigma." He kept fans entertained with stories from the set, though he confessed that with only about one episode per year, Stargate isn't a real big part of his life.In addition to hanging out with other fans, GateWorld's editors were also given the chance to take to the stage on Friday for a panel on Stargate on the Internet. Our thanks to everyone who threw some great questions at us -- so we only looked a little bit like chumps!
Following a session where fans stepped up to the mic to offer their ideas for a Stargate feature film, the first of several auctions kicked off. Auctioned items included SG-1 shirts and jackets, photos and photo tiles, board games, DVDs, and more, plus signed photos from other favorite genre shows.
In the dealer's room outside the main auditorium, Avatar Press' artist Jacen Burrows (left) and editor-in-chief William Christensen (right) introduced con-goers to the new Stargate SG-1 comic book series!
Fans gather in the main auditorium for the next event. Outside, Creation displays one of its many impressive, full-color Stargate banners. Many of these were auctioned off over the course of the weekend, fetching hundreds of dollars apiece.
Lightspeed Fine Arts displayed their Stargate prop replicas and a new Stargate model (with lights and sound), while Creation sold SG-1-branded items like coffee mugs and shot glasses.
