FAN POLL RATINGS

The fan ratings system is an average calculated based on how GateWorld visitors have voted for each episode of Stargate. Polls appear on the front page of the site during the week following the episode's broadcast and on each episode-specific page, and will record only one vote per user.

Ratings are based on a zero to 10 scale, with points assigned as so:
    Outstanding - 10 points
    Good - 7.5 points
    Fair - 5 points
    Poor - 2.5 points
    Terrible - 0 points
    Older Stargate SG-1 Polls:
    Outstanding - 10 points
    Good show - 7.5 points
    Disappointing - 2.5 points
    A real stinker - 0 points
Episodes must have at least 100 votes registered in the poll before its fan rating will be tallied. The poll must also be online for at least one week. Anything less is considered too small a sample.

GateWorld switched Stargate SG-1 from a 4-option poll to a 5-option poll beginning with Season Nine's "Beachhead." (Polls for a few episodes at the end of Season Three and the beginning of Season Four already included five options.) All previous polls were recalculated with the new scale (with the median "Fair" vote being calculated with zero votes) to keep the Fan Poll comparable from season to season.

Fan ratings may not accurately reflect the quality of an episode. The polls do show that fan response to some episodes is extremely polarized. "Divide and Conquer," for example, received a very poor 6.15 out of 10. Nearly 90 percent of all votes were split between "Outstanding" (the highest rating) and "A real stinker" (the lowest rating).
