AUTHOR'S NOTES: Okay, this is the place where I get to tell you why I wrote this (Inhale deeply). Well, the fact is I didn't write this, my muse wrote it. And that's very shocking considering until February 17, 2004 at 2:00PM I didn't know I had a muse. I was setting on the side of my bed after just getting back home after a very strong shot of 'Nubin/Phenergan (40/50 mix)' because I have bad migraines. Anyway I was getting ready to lay down and sleep it off when I picked up the pen and paper I keep in my headboard and started writing. I woke up the next morning and found this on my other pillow. Scary isn't it? Since I haven't had a shot since I'm not sure where my muse was going with this, so, any ideas would be a great help. And sorta keep me from thinking I'm crazy. This isn't really a crossover between SG-1 and Andromeda. I just wanted Shank's wife Lexa to return the favor and do and episode of StarGate (that she's as strong and smart and named Rommie was just for fun.)
Oh, I didn't have anyone to beta this, so sorry for all the mistakes. If this continues I'd love some help on it.

Because SG-1 had become so well known over the years, it has been impossible for them to go undercover to gather much INTEL surrounding P3X-891 -- and it's population and philosophy. But what they were offering to "StarGate Command" and "Earth" -- Advance Weapons Technology and Medical-Aide -- enough to jump Earth ahead well over a hundred years beyond anything that they could ever hope to get on their own -- it was decided that talks should get underway immediately. The problem was that little 'voice' in Jack's ear, that told him from day one that all was not well in the merry little land of Oz. Well, now it had acquired a mega-phone and fairly thundered a 'DANGER' warning. This self-same voice, it would seem, had brought his whole family, and even a few friends, who were shouting the same urgent message to the other members of SG-1 and General Hammond. But the more they tried to get details, and figure out what the peoples of P3X-891, the Admains, wanted and uncover what secrets they had, the more stone walls they ran into, and the more questions they had.

So one morning at their daily 0800 briefing one week into these negotiations General Hammond announced he was bring in someone who might be able to aide the team in it's information gathering efforts. He explained that in his de-briefing with the President and the Joint Chiefs a name had popped-up that most were familiar with and they'd had great success with in the past when dealing with similar circumstances (okay o'kay, granted never quite these circumstances of course, but . . . ) given that they possessed the best of Dr. Jackson's and Major Carter's abilities, such as being able the speak currently twenty-five different languages and a near photographic memory, and had tactical skills that rival Jack O'Neill's not to mention the strength of Teal'c (oh, I did mention that though, sorry 'bout that). They also had a quite natural ability to go completely un-noticed and non-threatening to the causal observer.

As General Hammond was explaining this, Jack O'Neill set off to his left quietly sipping his morning coffee and daydreaming about how wonderful it would be in a few days when he got out of the mountain. Out into the wide-open country, and could lay back and do some serious fishing, up at his cabin in Minnesota. Oh yeah, that's what he really needed right about now. He and his team had been on active-rotation for the last six months. What with SG-8 and 9 being out of commission because of serious injuries from their last mission. Luckily, no one was killed, but of the eight of them, five were on the sick list, and so, off the active-duty list. Which meant the other teams had to pick up the slack. Hence, SG-1 with it's regular schedule plus four extra missions that weren't even their. * AND THE PAPERWORK. * There must be some evil god out there that he had pissed off petty bad, because paperwork seem to be sipping through the floor and into his office lately; and Hammond wasn't giving out leave until 24 hours after he had turned in the last of his paperwork. *(? Why did that seem so familiar? . ? . -- yeah,* HOMEWORK in High School.) Well, he'd be damned if he didn't finish all of his work today. No way was he gonna miss the first days of summer because of HOMEWORK, NO I MEAN PAPERWORK. Beside as an added measure Hammond had announced that NONE of SG-1 could leave until Jack O'Neill was finished. Okay no pressure, they weren't glaring dagger into him because of that, really they weren't. It was just the way the sun was reflecting off their eyes. *--? ? No wait -- inside a mountain - - no sun -- no glare? ? , * YEAH he had really better get done, if he didn't want to end up dying in some s-l-o-w, h-o-r-r-i-b-l-e and t-o-r-t-u-r-o-u-s way.

And with that last horrible thought a smile spread back across his face as images of fishing all day long, in the quite relaxing place, where no one ask anything of him, and he could lose himself. Fishing yeah, that was the way to go. Then just as he was taking another sip of his coffee he heard the name 'Romanda' one he had hoped to never hear again. The shock, the totally unexpectedness of it caused his coffee to go down the wrong way and before he knew it he was spitting a mouthful of the hot liquid across the table and right into Daniel Jackson's face. Of course, caught completely off guard, Daniel had no time to react. It was a scene straight out of a 'Bad - B Movie' as Daniel set there for a second with coffee running down his face and dripping off his glasses. After the frozen moment in time everyone at the table reacted at once. Checking to be sure Jack was okay and laughing at Daniel setting there covered in coffee. General Hammond broke the moment as he seriously ask "Colonel what's wrong?"

"Do you know this person? You look as though someone had just pulled the scary monster from under your bed"

"NO SIR, It couldn't be the person I was thinking about. You just caught me off-guard, I guess, and the coffee went down the wrong way. SORRY SIR"

After a moment's quiet stare from the General to the Colonel, General Hammond continued as Daniel cleaned his face and wiped his glasses. Just as he was replacing them General Hammond commented that Colonel Samantha Romanda should be arriving at the base around 1500 hour this evening. But, again just as he said the whole name Jack let fly another mouth full of coffee into Daniel's face.

*"J-A-C-K! ! !"* Daniel screamed at the same time everyone else around the table called out his name.

General Hammond, of course, realized that Jack must in fact know who this person was insisted that the Colonel explain.

"Okay Colonel spill it -- and not on Dr. Jackson -- Who is this Colonel Romanda and how do you two know each other".

"Oh, it nothing Sir, just a name I hadn't heard in a long while. I can't believe it's even the same person. I mean the person I knew wasn't even in the military. Of course, at the time neither was I. It's got to have been nearly thirty years ago. We were kids." Jack finally got out with a slightly horrified look on his face.

"Well Colonel, for a memory that's thirty years old, you sure did have and explosive reaction. She isn't an old girlfriend, or something, is she Sir?" Sam ask, before the General had a chance.

*"HELL NO! ! * Not in this life or any reality out there." Jack snapped.

"Ahh, kinda extreme reaction there Colonel, wouldn't ya say? Sam stated.

Catching himself and trying to explain he made a face and after a long sigh said "She was my best friends kid sister. * A brat. A MONSTER FROM HELL* The kind of thing I wouldn't wish on the Goa'uld. Mean, LOUD always picking fights, Sarcastic. Thinking she knew everything, sticking her nose where it didn't belong. Staying in trouble. Did I mention MEAN? Did I mention TROUBLE? Did I mention LOUD? Did I mention . . ."

"I think we get the picture Colonel." Hammond cut in with a slight smile. "Well if it was -- or is her -- then she's done a complete 180, because the record before me is exemplary. Colonel Romanda has several metals and to my knowledge is the only woman to ever be a Seale. Plus she's a top-notch 'black-ops' and a 'Delta-Forces' soldier."

Before Hammond could continue Jack cut him off, standing and starting to pace and prowl the corners. The more he ramble-on the more agitated he became.

"SIR, I strongly recommend that she not be brought in. I don't see how she could possibly help on this mission, and there are any number of ways she could really screw this whole thing up. * SHE'S A LOOSE CANNON AND UNKNOWN VARIABLE. SHE'D NEVER FOLLOWS MY ORDERS AND BREAKS ALL THE RULES AND REGULATIONS. SHE'D JUST MAKE THINGS A WHOLE LOT WORST! ! ! * Hammond cut him off with a wicked smile as he said " Yes Colonel, I can see how someone like YOU might not take to a soldier who can't follow orders and thinks that regulations aren't written for them."

With that, everyone in the room busted into laughter. Jack just stood there trying to figure out what the joke was and how he had missed it.

"WHAT?"

At that General Hammond dismissed the meeting, remanding everyone that he expected all their paperwork complete and on his desk before anyone could take their downtime. Which meant today, since the next two days would be spent familiarizing Colonel Romanda with her new temporary assignment. As he said that everyone turned as a group and glared at Jack. He looked up with a puzzle expression on his face and innocently ask.

"WHAT? ".

The rest of the morning went by as a mind numbing boring blur. "I swear I must've pissed off some Evil Paperwork God". Every time he raised his head from his mounds (and mounds and mounds) of paperwork he kept getting the deadly sense of dread at the thought of Romanda. How the hell was he suppose to be able to function in the same mountain with her. This wasn't fair. This was HIS mountain she could have the rest of the world, why did she have to come and take the only acreage on the planet that was his. But she had always been like that, she had always seem to go out of her way just to take what little he had. As he sat mumbling to himself Daniel poked his head into Jack's office. (But only his head and even that was well out of spitting range.)

"Jack, are you coming to lunch or what?"

This popped Jack out of his angry musing to stare over at Daniel across the room.

"What?"

"I said are you coming to lunch?"

"Oh yeah, just let me finish this page." He dropped his eyes back down to focus on the piece of paper in front of him and realized Daniel was still standing in the hall. He looked back up and with a question look on his face ask Daniel why he was just standing there. And Daniel, with that innocent 'don't beat me up' look of nerds and geeks the world over whined.

"I don't want you spitting on me again."

Jack laughed and finally said "Danny I told you I was sorry and I won't do it again."

"Yeah right, I think I'll just wait right here."

As the rest of the team gathered in the commissary for a late lunch Sam noticed that Daniel made sure he was not seating across from the Colonel or next to him, which also did not go unnoticed by Teal'c. I mean it's wasn't as if they had assigned seats or anything, but they had always ended up in a sorta . . . well assigned -- unassigned way.

As they ate their lunch Sam noticed the Colonel still mumbling under his breath and cringing - up (Is that really a word)
"Come on Sir, kid sister and juvenile aside don't you think this is a bit much. I mean it was nearly thirty years ago."

"Carter" he practically shouted "She was a monster. *A bully. * And she took great pleasure in making my life a living HELL. I've spent my whole life trying to stay out of her scope. She's got the whole damn world she can play in, so why does she have to come invade My mountain." He whined.

"Sir, I'm not sure, but I don't really think it's *YOUR mountain. * She just goes where she told, like the rest of us." she said trying to reason with him.

"Yeah, well I wouldn't be surprised to find out she somehow set this up just to make my life miserable."

"Well I can't wait to meet the person who could make the big bad Colonel go into such a state." Daniel said. "I mean you face Goa'uld without a blink, now here's this average human woman with no magic powers who's got you falling apart."

"NO I'M NOT."

"YES YOU ARE"

"NO I'M NOT"

"YES YOU ARE"

"NOT"

"ARE"

"NOT"

"ARE"

"NOT, beside she a big bad mean woman, ya just wait and see." And with that he got up and stormed off to finish his paperwork.

At 1500 everyone met back in the briefing room to turn in all their paperwork and have a first briefing on the continuing negotiations on P3X-891. The General entered and informed them that Colonel Ramonda was running late and would be joining them shortly. To that Jack mumbled under his breath, "see told ya she couldn't do anything right." The General wisely chose to ignore the remark. To everyone's amazement the Colonel had actually finished all of his paperwork (that meant actually did it and not hide it or thrown it in the trash.) Just as they were finishing the last bits of business and Airman knocked on the door and ushered in their expected visitor. As everyone looked up too see what monster could have the Colonel behaving the way he had been today, in walked Colonel Samantha Romanda in a form-fitting two piece body suit and you could've heard a pin drop all the way to D. C.. Standing before them was a woman who was shorter than Dr. Fraiser and a good 25 pounds lighter. At Sam's guess she couldn't be five feet tall and couldn't weight over a hundred pounds. But her most distinctive feature was her hair. Not the normal military short cut but long and flowing to just below her shoulders. It was straight and shiny and sooo black it was almost blue with a hands-width streak of snow white. She had a sense of power and a 'self-assurance' about her, that you recognized as someone who knows they're good, and knows that everyone else knows it also. A total 'self-confidence' * She OWNED the room. She was the "Alpha-Male (or Alpha-Person)" in this room.* And just as quickly she turned it off, and all you saw was this small vulnerable little lady with the oh sooo delicate features. It was enough to get all the men in the room to jump and run to offer their assistance. Well, all except for Jack, who just dropped his head to the table with a very loud thud as he whispered "oh geez . . . welcome to hell."

Colonel Romanda had not been given any information on what to expect, only ordered to board a specific plane and she would be met by a driver and taken to her next assignment. Almost anyone else would have had questions, needing at least some information before beginning, but she had been at this for many years and she prided herself on being able to think and work 'on the fly'. Whatever it was she would adjust accordingly. In her many years she had learn to school her outward reaction to her environment so no one would be able to judge her abilities and knowledge. She was good and she knew it. She was prepared for anything and everything, or so she had thought. But today was starting to take it's toll on her. Okay act cool, show no reaction, she thought as Major Davis (I think that was his name) continued his briefing in the car on their way to the base. A secret military base, hidden under Cheyenne Mountain - for godsake - hid in plain sight I guess the old saying went. *Aliens and the ability to travel to other planets. There was life on other planets and Aliens right here on Earth.* Could anything else happen today? Could she take anymore surprises? Could there be anymore? And just as she thought that and walked into the briefing room her biggest surprise happened. There sitting with his head on the table was Jack O'Neill. *Her big brother's best friend from childhood.* She didn't so much see him as hear him. What was that about 'hell' she thought she'd heard. Please, don't tell me he's still holding a grudge. But he always could stew forever. Then just like that she was back to being thirteen years old, and awkward, and hating the world. Out the window went all those years of training and hard work to reach this point. Now she was just a kid and trying to prove her worth, and hating everyone, and tops on her 'hate' list was Jack O'Neill.

She fairly screamed *"O'Neill what the hell are you doing here. Like I really need you on top of everything else I've been though today."*

*"Yeah, like any part of your day up until now could possibly be my fault."* He screamed right back.

Then they started toward each other like two wild cocks in a ring. Startled by this exchange everyone in the room frozen for a split second, that was, until they started toward each other. Then everyone started moving at once. Daniel grabbed Colonel Romanda while Teal'c reach out to grab Jack and stopped him in his tracks. If Daniel Jackson thought he had gotten the easier of the two he was solely mistaken (and would be sole for many days to come). In less than the blink of and eye he was staring up at the ceiling, seeing stars and groaning loudly. Colonel Romanda continued on her mission as if nothing had ever been in her way. Just as she reach Jack and started to grab at him General Hammond's voice boomed throughout the room. In his loudest and most commanding voice he yelled *"AT EASE COLONELS"*. Both Colonels immediately stopped and stood at parade rest position with their eyes focus on some spot just above General Hammond's right shoulder. After making them stand that way for a few seconds he ordered them into his office and dismissed the other three members of SG-1. Sam and Teal'c helped Daniel to his feet and quickly exited the briefing room, hearing the beginning of what was sure to be a very interesting. ? . ? . ? talk.

Daniel looked from Sam to Teal'c and back again asking "What the hell just happened?" For the next thirty minutes much yelling could be heard coming from the General's Office. Oddly enough no one felt the need to disturb the meeting or even comment on it. At the end of the meeting General Hammond couldn't help but feel he'd been left in charge of a child's daycare and the kids just didn't want to play well together. These two were like oil and a match (a lit match) not a good mix under any circumstances. But he had his orders and these two were required to work together. Whatever it was between them it was going to be a very long few days.

Colonel Romanda was assigned quarters and given a brief tour of the base. The rest of the day went by very uneventful and thankfully very quiet, until word started to spread that there was an interesting boxing match in the gym between Teal'c and the new Colonel, and Teal'c was loosing. Within minutes the area was packed with on-lookers and indeed Teal'c was loosing and badly. Just as she was about to land the winning - and from the looks of it fatal- blow Colonel O'Neill's voice filled the room "ROMMIE STOP THAT RIGHT NOW" he yelled at her, and in that instant the focus of her rage was redirected from Teal'c onto Colonel O'Neill. And without skipping a beat turned and sent a punch at O'Neill, striking in squarely across the jaw causing he feet to fly from under him and him to land heavily on his backside. All Colonel Romanda did was turn on her heels and stalk off mumbling "That makes two times." Daniel and a few of the braver on-lookers came forward to help Teal'c and Jack to their feet.

Daniel ask "So what does she mean 'that make two'?"

"Nothing Danny, nothing at all."

"Well it must mean something Jack or she wouldn't have said it." Daniel reasoned.

"Well, Danny if you truly want to know why don't you go ask her yourself."

No. No. No. No. No. I don't think so. I mean if she can take you two on, and win, what chance would I stand".

Lucky nothing was really broken, but oh my there were gonna be bruises by morning.

After blowing off a little stream in the gym (boy they were gonna need another punch bag) she felt much better. A shower and a quick bite at the commissary then drop by the infirmary for my check-up.

What she saw when she arrived was a tiny girl maybe a little shorter and even thinner than she was. Her heart went out to the poor child and her family. Just then Dr. Fraizer came in to check on her special patient. After taking some notes on her clipboard she said over her shoulder "I'm running a little behind if you don't mind waiting. I had to patch up Colonel O'Neill and Teal'c, seems someone got to rough with them in the gym. It's usually the other way around." Colonel Romanda looked down at her feet and whispered "Well that was probably me." Janet whirled around and just stared at her unable to speak for a few seconds. You mean YOU are the big bad Colonel who just single-handedly took out the tops the SGC had to offer". In an attempt to justify her actions Romanda mutter "Yeah well, they had it coming. Just 'cause they're big doesn't mean they are the best." This was a feeling the petite little doctor knew all to well. She had fought this fight all of her life also. Being judged and found lacking based solely on her size. Maybe she shouldn't have given them the pain medicine, let them suffer a little. Romanda stuck her hand out and introduced herself

"my friends call me Rommie nice to meet you."

Janet returned the gesture.

"Janet, Dr. Janet Fraiser I'm the CMO on this base. My friends just call me Janet. "

"Oh boy I'll bet O'Neill really has a time with you. He has this 'over-protective pad you on the head attitude' that's enough to drive you crazy." Rommie commented.

Janet smiled, a wicked little grin appearing on her face,

"Well I keep him in check with my big needles he doesn't push me too far."

As her examine was coming to a close Sam walked into the infirmary.

"Hey, Janet 'bout ready to go - 'girls night out and all that. Oh, sorry Colonel." Sam cut herself off and jumped to attention as she realized who the patient was.

"No problem, and call me Rommie in my line of work the rank and rules are only a hindrance." She said with a board smile.

"Yes Ma am"

"Rommie, remember"

Just then Cass poked her head around the corner and whined.

"Mom where's Daniel I'm ready to go home."

Janet smiled. "He should be along shortly, he getting the Colonel and Teal'c settled after their little ACT in the gym."

Rommie jumped at that and ask "You mean you're involved with someone on this base?"

"Married to someone actually, and you've met him if I'm not mistaken. "

"Isn't that a little against regs?"

Janet just smiled, she had been over this with everyone who had ever come to the base. Finally she just stated. "Daniel's not military, he's a civilian Archaeologist and Linguist. He's a member of SG-1 and helped start the StarGate program with Sam."

Rommie seem to puzzle this over for a few seconds and then asked, "I thought I had met all the members of SG-1. I don't remember a 'Daniel'."

Sam laughed at this and answered. "Ah he would have been the first man you floor and in briefing room."

Rommie just blushed and mouthed a "Sorry" to Janet.

Okay that must've been here my meds wore off, sorry. But if you think it might be interesting let me know, give me some ideas.

PLEASE.
