Week 8 episode ratings hold steady

Wednesday - September 13, 2006 | by Darren Sumner

Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis held steady in the ratings race on Friday, September 8, with SG-1 even gaining viewers.

"Memento Mori" earned a 1.6 average household rating when it premiered at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific last Friday, up one-tenth of a point from the last new episode two weeks prior.

September 2 saw a Stargate marathon on SCI FI instead of new episodes, due to the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Stargate Atlantis held its lead-in audience at 10 p.m. with "McKay and Mrs. Miller" also earning a 1.6. This is even with the previous new episode, and the first time this season that the two series have tied in the ratings (rounded off to the closest tenth of a point).

An off-network rerun of Night Stalker earned a 0.8 rating in the 8 p.m. time slot, a weak lead-in to SCI FI's new original programming.

Reruns of Stargate's new episodes earned a 0.9 and 0.7, respectively, later that night.

The shows faced less competition this week, with major network series preempted and USA's Monk having finished its summer run of new episodes.

SCI FI's ratings leaders Eureka and ECW wrestling scored a 1.9 and 2.0, respectively, during the same week. Though a strong showing for a freshman series, this is Eureka's lowest number to date.

The final episodes of Stargate's summer season premiere Friday, September 15 and September 22 at 9 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on SCI FI! The second half of the season will premiere in March.
