Atlantis action figures in the works

Friday - December 1, 2006 | by Darren Sumner

Diamond Select Toys is now in development on the first-ever Stargate Atlantis action figures, the company announced this week. The figures will likely be released in 2007.

Wave 1 of the new series will include Lt. Colonel John Sheppard, Dr. Elizabeth Weir, and a Wraith Male. A limited Field Ops Dr. Weir will also be included, as well as a Diamond Previews exclusive Field Ops Sheppard.

"You can expect the same articulation featured in the upcoming figures," the company said, "with incredible attention to detail thanks to the artists at Jean St Jean Studios."

As with the first two waves of Stargate SG-1 figures (the second of which is due in stores later this month), each figure in the first two assortments will include a piece of the Stargate -- in this case, of course, the blue chevron Atlantis gate.

Images of the first Atlantis figures will be unveiled at Toy Fair this February. Stick with GateWorld for the latest, including another all-new installment of our exclusive Q&A with Diamond Select!
