Fans of Stargate SG-1 who have yet to take the plunge and own the show on DVD -- and those who are completists! -- your time has almost arrived. MGM and FOX will release all ten seasons of Stargate SG-1 in a complete series set, with an unbelievable price. TVShowsOnDVD.com reports and GateWorld can confirm that Stargate SG-1: The Complete Series is heading toward an October 9 release.
The release follows the July 24 debut of Season Ten on DVD, and will include an astonishing 54 discs -- that's five discs per season of cable television's longest running drama, plus four all-new bonus discs.
The set comes with special collector's packaging and a suggested retail price of $299.98 (U.S.), making each season just $30 -- not even factoring in the extra bonus material. As usual, expect many retailers to discount that price even further.
Precise details on just what those 54 discs will include have not yet been announced, but FOX tells GateWorld that they hope to include all of SCI FI Channel's behind-the-scenes specials from years gone by (including the recent Stargate SG-1: True Science) as well as plenty of new, never-before-seen content.
The 50 discs on which the SG-1 episodes themselves appear may include the same contents as the current releases. Stay tuned to GateWorld for full details as soon as the collector's set is officially announced.
