Monday - June 23, 2008 | by Darren Sumner
The biggest Stargate events of the summer will air on Sky One in the United Kingdom in August, the network has announced. Fans have both the movie Stargate: Continuum and the fifth season of Stargate Atlantis to look forward to.
Sky will air Continuum, the second SG-1 movie heading straight to DVD and Blu-ray, on Tuesday, 12 August at 8 p.m. The 90-minute movie stars Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, and Claudia Black, with a special appearance from Richard Dean Anderson ("Jack O'Neill").
The movie will also air simultaneously in high definition on Sky One HD.
In the film, Mitchell, Carter, and Jackson find themselves on an Earth very different from the one they know after the Goa'uld Baal (Cliff Simon) manages to travel back in time and alter the past.
The movie will be released on DVD in the U.K. the following week (pre-order now at Amazon.co.uk), August 18. Across the pond in North America, Stargate: Continuum will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on July 29 (pre-order at Amazon.com) -- but does not currently have a television broadcast scheduled.
Stargate Atlantis begins its fifth season on Sky One on 19 August at 8 p.m.. "Search and Rescue" picks up where the fourth season cliffhanger finale left off, with the team still searching for Teyla -- but now trapped under a collapsed building.
The season premiere airs in the United States on July 11, on SCI FI Channel.
