Season Five will be on iTunes

Monday - July 14, 2008 | by Darren Sumner

UPDATE: "Search and Rescue" is now available on the U.S. iTunes Store.

New episodes of Stargate Atlantis's fifth season will be released each week on iTunes (U.S. version), MGM has confirmed to GateWorld.

Last Friday's season premiere, "Search and Rescue," has yet to make its appearance on the iTunes Store. But MGM has told GateWorld that the publishing delay has been fixed, and the episode is expected to be available online any time now.

New episodes from Season Five will also be available each weekend on Amazon Unbox. "Search and Rescue" is available now for download from Amazon.com's service for $1.99.

NBC Universal (which owns the SCI FI Channel) ended its relationship with iTunes last year, resulting in SCI FI's other programming being yanked from the service. Stargate is owned and distributed by MGM, however, though it airs on SCI FI.

Don't miss the next all-new episode of Stargate Atlantis, featuring the return of Carson Beckett, this Friday night! "The Seed" premieres at 10 p.m. (9 Central) on SCI FI Channel.
