Rhona Mitra cast in recurring SGU role

SPOILER ALERT: MEDIUM
Actress Rhona Mitra has been cast in a key role at the end of Stargate Universe’s first season, Syfy announced today.
Mitra will appear in a 3-episode arc at the end of the season, including “Subversion” and the the 2-part season finale, “Incursion.”
She’ll play Kiva, described by the network as “a strong-willed commander of an alien incursion force. Kiva will do whatever it takes to safeguard her people even if it is at the ultimate expense of the Destiny crew.”
The 33-year-old, London-born actress has had recurring roles on Nip/Tuck, Boston Legal, The Practice (as Tara Wilson), Gideon’s Crossing and Party of Five. Her film career includes movies from Underworld: Rise of the Lycans to The Number 23.
According to previously released casting documents, Kiva is a commander in the Lucian Alliance — the group which the Destiny crew speculated may have been behind the attack on the Icarus Base in the series premiere, “Air, Part 1.”

Fantastic news! Great British actress! One of my favourites! She’s beautiful and talented and I thought she was amazing in the movies “Doomsday” and “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans”!
I cannot wait to see her appear in “Stargate: Universe”!
Alan | October 5 @ 4:49 pmHoly Sweet Dear Lord! OMG! Rhona Mitra! OMFG!
universacred | October 5 @ 4:55 pmhow t f did she got to destiny in first place? this is weird.
MadDog | October 5 @ 5:10 pmGorgeous woman! On the other hand…
Travellers – Larrin and/or Katana
Lucian Alliance – Kiva
Erm…
katikatnik | October 5 @ 5:37 pmSo there you go – they will definitely have “young hip people” on the show by the end of the season. Sounds like the Teyla character re-hashed to me. Is Wil Wheaton not available? Remember, 33 is the new 18.
Mentat | October 5 @ 5:44 pmMaybe this character is a Lucian Alliance spy who was in Icarus Base at the time of the attack and that is how she ended up on the Destiny.
Michael Sacal | October 5 @ 6:24 pm@Micheal Sacal
Thats the most logical explanation.
She may of been the one that informed the Lucian Alliance of the location of the base in the first place which led to the attack. She could of then went through the Stargate to the Destiny with everyone else.
Comparison to Teyla is poor as I doubt a Lucian Alliance spy would become there ally. She most likely will do sabotage etc.
Tanith | October 5 @ 6:39 pmWho the hell is Rhona Mitra? American actors too expensive for SGU? Hey, love the shuttle that has doors that open and close only from the inside. Sure, that’s plausible. I’ve watched this 4 times now and I still don’t like it. I hope they change my mind.
flmatthew | October 5 @ 6:52 pmooops. Now I remember — Boston Legal….
flmatthew | October 5 @ 6:53 pmLook, I also was unimpressed with the SGU premiere, but getting Rhona Mitra is a big thing. She is a VERY legit actress and well known in Europe and England.
Joelist | October 5 @ 7:21 pmJoelist why do u think she even accept to act for 3 episodes only after the premiere aired? because she liked it and she thinks is good :D so good for her to come.
MadDog | October 5 @ 8:21 pm“Remember, 33 is the new 18.” Only on TV, only on TV… sigh :P
Michael Sacal | October 5 @ 9:58 pmHaving British actors in US dramas is the new thing, personally i find nothing wrong with that, i’ve got a whole 15 episodes to watch before Rhona turns up. – Also, Lucian Alliance could have got hold of the 9 Chevron adress, and repeated Rush’s experiment on a similarly powerful planet. – I find it hard to believe that she was there from episode 1, surely they would have known she was an outsider.
SomeVeryRandomStuff | October 5 @ 10:39 pm“I’ve watched this 4 times now and I still don’t like it.”
lmao
AutumnDream | October 5 @ 11:26 pmWil Wheaton plays a nerdy psychotic alien in season 2…
ictus75 | October 6 @ 1:37 amGotta ask why watch it 4 times if you don’t like it lol (I would stop after the 2nd attempt)
Tanith | October 6 @ 4:33 amForgive me. But I was hoping the Lucian Alliance was dead and over with, or at least the story line back when SG1 went off the air.
This show takes place in a Galaxy far far away. WTF is going through the writers mind about this? Why bring back a annoying Alien collective when they could actually take advantage of this situation and give us new bad guys? hell they don’t even need to look human.
Jim Hutto | October 6 @ 9:11 amI thought there weren’t going to be humanoid aliens on this show?
Imitation Tofu | October 6 @ 9:45 amAt least this will explain why the aliens in SGU are human. If they went to some random planet and met english speaking humans..I would be a little mad.
Gateman2000 | October 6 @ 9:56 amIntriguing twist on the “enemy within” idea. If it’s written well: could easily be as good as BSG’s “Blood on the Scales”.
I think the Lucian Alliance makes for the perfect idea for this type of story-telling.
AscendedTauri | October 6 @ 2:31 pmI ran back to see if this episode was written by the same person who wrote Travellers (Mullie writes this one, Mullie and Mallozzi wrote Travelers) because this sounds exactly like Larrin Mark II: The Boston Legal Years. D:
