Catch a brand new episode of Stargate Universe tonight on Syfy! This week fans will see “Water,” the sixth hour of the new show. Here’s an early look.
Watch out for significant SPOILERS below, particularly in Syfy’s full episode description …
From TV Guide:
The ship’s water supply dwindles, prompting Colonel Young and Lt. Scott to visit a frozen planet in search of drinkable samples. Meanwhile, the crew attempts to snare an intruder.
From Syfy:
Despite severe rationing and around the clock security, the water reserves on board the Destiny continue to drop. Dr. Nicholas Rush has no explanation for this latest setback but, if they are to survive, they must find a new water source soon. The only planet within range is a frozen wasteland surrounded by a thin and poisonous atmosphere.
Donning two of the ship’s deteriorated spacesuits, Colonel Young and Lt. Scott head to the planet’s surface, hoping to retrieve enough ice to replenish their water supply. But once there, tests reveal that the ice near the Stargate contains traces of highly toxic chemicals. Young and Scott take off in search of drinkable samples knowing they don’t have long before their air will run out and Destiny jumps back to F.T.L.
Back on board the ship, Lt. Tamara Johansen works with the crew to catch an intruder they believe is responsible for the lost rations.

I dunno what people are really complaining about I just really wanna see this episode… it’s the same with all of em, the actors are good the characters are interesting and it’s just gonna be really interesting to see where it all ends up in the end… be it with disaster or cake for all.
Great episode. For a second there I thought it’s going to be Scott “saving the day” AGAIN. Was pleasantly surprised that his ass got humbled a bit. As for Eli… I don’t think that running all sad and whiny constitutes mature. Sure he’s glad to be there – that much is obvious, but he also has principles, meaning, he’d rather say the truth and deal with the consequences. Rush just jumps right into “command” and thinks that when he’s in charge he automatically has to make dramatic decisions, without any middle ground or trust. Greer’s back to his sadistic unpredictable self. Still dislike Scott (for the girl deal) – personal thing :p.
Ratings wise feel free to factor this in: Halloween parties (Friday night is fab to have them).
In my opinion this has been the best episode so far (Thought Light did come close). Glad to see that Lt James doesn’t get to involved over the whole Chloe and Lt Scott thing.
Was kinda obvious that someone was going to fall through the ice (The fact that it was in the comic con trailer for SGU could explain that though).
I’m glad to see that we haven’t had a Forest planet yet, they were used far far to much in both SG-1 & SGA and I hope that we continue to see more variety.
This episode has been more plot driven than the ones previous, since we have been introduced to the characters well I assume that we will continue to have more plot driven episodes in the future. Judging by the preview the next one will be more plot driven aswell.
I noticed a comment on another article saying that it was always the ship to save the day: The ships “intelligence” wasn’t even involved in this weeks episode.
Im not a SGA fan but a SG1 fan and if i look at the ratings then a noob would see that this show is a fail and it coste also two time more. But what do you expect from people that changed a network name from SciFi to SyFy ^_^
@Outbreaker SGA in the beginning had the advantage of being on right after an SG-1 episode (Which had an established fan base) so there was an extremely high chance that those who were watching the SG-1 episode would keep watching to see what SGA.
SGA didn’t have negativity over a cancellation to contend with or have people bashing it before it even aired. SGA also had the same premise as SG-1 (Which made the transition of fans more simple), SGU isn’t: it takes time to establish a fan base for a completely new show. (They did mention that SGU wasn’t only for current fans of the franchise but for new people aswell).
Some would ask: Why didn’t they air SGA and SGU together? well when SG-1 ended MGM said that they would never want to do 2 shows at once again was to much for them to handle and would result in both shows not living up to there potential.
@Tanith
SGA did have also negativity because people where pissed because SG1 was stoped because of SGA and im still pissed. And SG1 did also not have a fanbase and the s01e01 has a 3.3 rating.
Like i say without the name Stargate and the “ring-shaped” this show would be Dead.
This capitaliste managers have runingin a good show.
hmm, well I liked this one a bit more than the previous episodes, cool non-humanoid alien and a bit more action and gate-travel ect. Heres hoping it gets better from here on.
This episode was fantastic, all the right elements and we got to see Young interact with Scott to a greater degree, it shows more of their relationship. I like the fact that Chloe nailed Rush like she did. They showed TJ with the ability to take command with decisiveness. I have to hand it to James, she showed great compassion and understanding in realizing that Chloe and Scott are together.
All in all this episode just goes to show that SGU is continuing to evolve and gets better and better.
I also thought the “aliens” from Air3 being brought into the picture was pretty dang good. The fact that Rush admitted that Scott hadn’t hallucinated the creatures was big on his part. Yes, Rush has his own agenda (maybe) but you have to admit the guy does think in practicality, much to the disgust of most on board.
As far as Rush setting down Eli, well you have to admit he kind of had it coming. I agree with Eli that you shouldn’t lie, however they were trying to keep Young from worrying about more than he needed to at the time. I think that Rush at least gave Eli pause and in the end Eli did what he needed to do for the others.
Star Trek had an irritating feature (despite being really great!), the episodes where too much, too often unrelated to each other. I’ve sat through all the ST series, and SG1 and SGA and I was very often tired with the “fillers” – that is episodes not related to the main plot, and often wished someone made a list of only the plot related ones so I could skip the “fillers”. So far I’m not seeing that in SGU and I love it. Each episodes flows neatly into the next one. No techno-babble, it’s more “real science” oriented, and people act in less of a childish and idealised way then in all those older shows, so that you can relate to them more often. Less heroism, more real behaviour. Scott falling into the hole was too much of a cliche I guess, there’s so much more that can happen to a man on an alien icy world. The show somehow reminds me of Farscape, and I’m still loving it.
Those suits look very close to the ones in Lost Tribe. http://www.gateworld.net/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=268418&fullsize=1

Jan Vetulani | October 31 @ 8:00 amThe only interesting in this show is how the ratings are and if im right again that this episode will have agan less viewers.
The only thing way this show is not yet on the canceling table is becasue it has the name stargate in it.
Outbreaker | October 31 @ 8:57 amhow are the ratings?
arnoldrimmer | October 31 @ 12:20 pmEven the Universe fans panned this episode.

Outbreaker | October 31 @ 6:27 pmIm really little bit confused about this.
