With only half of its first season aired thus far, Stargate Universe has already received an industry award nomination.
The series’ pilot episode, “Air,” has been nominated for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Broadcast Series by the Visual Effects Society, a group who for the past eight years have handed out awards to productions with outstanding achievements in the field of visual effects artistry.
Competition for the award category is stiff. The other nominees in the category include the penultimate episode of Battlestar Galactica, the pilots for the ABC network genre series Defying Gravity and V, and an episode of FOX’s Fringe.
“It’s important to keep in mind that it wasn’t machines that created these images but incredibly talented artists,” said VES chairman Jeffrey Okun in a statement. “We congratulate them all and look forward to seeing who is chosen as the best of the best at the awards show in February.”
Nominees in 23 different categories were handed out by members of the VES, who celebrate achievements not solely in television or movies, but also in the fields of animation, commercials and video games. The awards will be presented February 28 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
Congratulations to Mark Savela and the entire Stargate visual effects team!
*fingers crossed* :D:D
Thank god the pilot episode was good for something.
congrats on the nomination!
i also think the actors do a great job on this show.
it’s a shame that the plot is so weak that everything else becomes obsolete.
