Stargate fans living in the middle of the United States have a new reason to cheer: a brand new convention in a decidedly unconventional location from previous years.
Our friends at Creation Entertainment last week announced a brand-new stop in this year’s Official Stargate Convention tour. Normally, each summer brings Creation and Stargate to the Windy City of Chicago for a Midwest convention (August). But fans now have a brand new location to look forward to, as well. And it’s right around the corner.
On June 12 and 13, Creation will hold its first Stargate convention at the Marriott City Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Scheduled guests thus far include Atlantis‘s Joe Flanigan (“John Sheppard”) and Brian J. Smith (“Lt. Matthew Scott”) from Stargate Universe. More guest announcements are forthcoming.
The annual, official convention tour also includes Vancouver, British Columbia (April) and Burbank, Calif. (November).
Keep an eye to GateWorld for more announcements about this convention as they break, and also visit Creation’s Minneapolis convention page for more information including ticket pricing, future guests and more as it is updated.
Not that I’m complaining, but you’d think they’d do one in the South, South East, or East seeing as they already have a con in Chicago. Don’t want to see the Chicago con lose any attendance because folks go to this one.
I’d like to see one somewhere on the east coast.
Minneapolis, Minnesota is *not* the midwest. It’s the north midwest. I appreciate the sentiment though.
Hey, I live in Minneapolis and I am leaping in excitment!!!! Woooooooooooooooohooooooooooooo!!!! And yes, we are the Midwest.
“UK please”.
I’ll just leave that to simmer. :)
Um how ’bout Omaha or Kansas City????
a duuuuuh, Minneapolis is no different than Chicago. Neither are in the middle of the country.
Last year they had a lot of Stargate things going on at the Dragon Con in Atlanta.
How about one in Florida? Or Georgia maybe? Ya know something that us southerners could go to.
This is AWESOME!!! Yes, I live in Minnesota, the frozen tundra. Perhaps this is a sign that they will pick other locations in the future. I’m very greatful they are going to be here and YES I plan on attending. Perhaps we’ll even see RDA being he is a Minnesota boy.
So, yeah, totally cool and all, seeing as how most conventions only see Chicago as far as “midwest” goes and its about time us Minnesotans got some convention action, but I have to ask: Has Creation gotten better? I mean, time was that fan conventions were just that. They were run by fans who had to fundraise for months to get even the B-listers (my Dad used to help run the couple of PolarisCons and Time, Space and Fantasy con in the 80’s, got to meet some cool people)and there was a ton of stuff to do that got the… Read more »
Just for clarification, Creation doesn’t do DragonCon. Stargate Multiverse Track does the stargate related events at Dragoncon. You can check out their homepage http://sgmultiverse.org/ they have 8 Stargate guests lined up already for Dcon this year.
And Minniapolis isn’t really Midwest. How about Kansas City, Omaha, Ok City, Dallas, or Denver? That way people from all around can make it in. Dallas and Denver are even major hubs so the airfare would be cheap too.
ya know if creation actually wants people to show up they might want to advertise this like ah, on syfy. I never would have know if I didnt check out gateworld. atleast creation did one thing right, moving to minneapolis.
