The GateWorld Podcast is back! We’re getting ready for the final 10 episodes of Stargate Universe, starting this Monday on Syfy Channel (Tuesday on SPACE in Canada).
This week we’re opening up the phone lines to hear what you have to say about Destiny and it’s A.I., ratings and measuring all viewers, interfacing the human mind with Ancient technology, traveling in stasis, and ending the show on a cliffhanger. We’ll also discuss what we’d like to see from the future of the franchise, including movies for SGU, Atlantis, and SG-1. There are lots of listener comments on that subject … and all this is just for starters!
Join the Discussion! Watch this week’s new episode of SGU, “Deliverance,” and then call into the GateWorld Podcast Hotline with your reactions.

Is the show live ?
People clearly don’t know how the industry works. They are quick to blame syfy for cancelling the show…
This has all happened before. First, a much loved show with strong characters, chemistry, and stories – and consequently beloved by fans (Star Trek : The Next Generation / Stargate SG-1). Then, effectively a carbon copy that tries to go back to the well, and despite having some very good aspects only partially succeeds (SGA, Voyager). Finally, the producers decide what we actually want is a reimagining. Let’s put the show we fell in love with behind us, and instead let’s revamp it for a younger audience (Enterprise / SGU). Enterprise killed the Trek TV franchise, and frankly SGU has… Read more »
I am going to be dead serious. I do not know if the SGU writers will ever read this but if they do, I, along with many of my friends, love stargate. But what is confusing is how this show SGU is meant to be directed to people in my age group. Yes I am 16 currently a junior in high school, and No I do not really like what you did with SGU. Although my opinion my not be heard or considered, I do not believe TV should be about drama but how it was on the older shows… Read more »

isn’t destiny a hundred thousand years old? but its been said several times that atlantis is ten thousand years old in sga
@professorhenryjonesjr: Cool story bro.
@professorhenryjonesjr
I thought enterprise was excellent, it felt like a star trek series to me…but SGU didn’t and that was the problem. People felt alienated.
I didn’t despise it,but I also didn’t like Enterprise very much.I generally don’t like prequels.At the time Enterprise had gotten out,I wanted to see what happens next in a Star Trek Universe,not the whole show about what happened 200 years ago.They had a good writing team,so it wasn’t a complete disaster,but still,the premise was all wrong,in my opinion. SGU was better in theory and premise,but worse in execution.Why?Well because instead of,as the name SG Universe says,capturing and involving everything we’d found out and know by now about that world and then some and then going all out with more, exploring… Read more »
What people like professorhenryjonesjr are forgetting -again- is that fans, no matter how devout, & anti-fans, no matter how spurious, don’t make the ratings. The casual viewers do. That’s right, the plebs that were too busy watching Dancing With The Stars or another CSI/NCIS/Whatever knockoff. Believe me, I wish I was wrong. Anti-fans I can actually reach & argue with. If only through the internet. No amount of expounding on the merits of a show or trash talking it will make the average couch potato switch that remote. It looks like for the near future if you want good sci-fi,… Read more »
@Gaeth Since that’s how I started and never really stopped,that is actually a good idea.
The thing is most people think of themselves as sci-fi fans,just because they used to watch Star Trek.
Nomatter what they said they were trying to appeal to, SGU used more mature story telling, more mature writing and acting and a more realistic approach. Most of the people I know that love the show are close to their 40s and also like to read science fiction. But I really think who actually likes the show just depends on personal style. Some folks just don’t like the long arc story and prefer episodic. I love the chapter approach of SGU but admit it would be hard to pick up in the middle. If I commit to a show I… Read more »
