Former Stargate SG-1 guest star Morena Baccarin seems to have found her breakout role as Homeland‘s Jessica Brody. Baccarin was nominated last week for an Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
She played the Ori-human hybrid villain Adria in the tenth season of SG-1, as well as the DVD movie The Ark of Truth. Her sci-fi credentials also include Firefly and the remake of V.
Her competition in the category includes Anna Gunn (Breaking Bad), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), and Christine Baranski (The Good Wife).
This year Baccarin is also expecting her first child, with husband Austin Chick.
In total Homeland is up for 13 Emmys this year, including Outstanding Drama and acting awards for co-stars Damian Lewis, Claire Danes, and Mandy Patinkin. The show won six awards last year.
The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards air Sunday, September 22 on CBS, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. Check out the full list of this year’s nominees at Emmys.com. Homeland returns for its third season September 29 on Showtime.
