Stargate nominated for two Leo awards
SG-1 up for best visual effects and production design

April 23, 2001

The crew behind "Stargate SG-1" received three nominations for the Leo Awards 2001 -- celebrating excellence in film and television produced in British Columbia. The awards have been given out annually by The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television since 1998.

For Best Visual Effects in a Dramatic Series, the show will compete against "Dark Angel," "Andromeda" and "The Outer Limits." The producers of Season Four's "Small Victories" and "The Curse" were both nominated, under the direction of James Tichenor.

In the Best Production Design in a Dramatic Series category, Richard Hudolin and his team were nominated for the episode "The Light". Their competition includes "Call of the Wild" and three separate episodes of "The Outer Limits."

And there are a few more familiar faces at the awards. "Stargate" guest star Tom McBeath ("Colonel Mayboure") was nominated for Best Performance by a Male in a Dramatic Series for an episode of "Da Vinci's Inquest." Laara Sadiq (who plays a recurring role as an SGC technician) was nominated for Best Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series for "Hotel."

The Leo Awards will be presented May 12 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Find a complete list of nominees at LeoAwards.com.
