Colorado Springs citizen who served in the Motor Pool in the Persian Gulf. Here he was a mechanic (and likely never in combat), responsible for servicing vehicles during their intermittent maintenance. His mother left her son when he was a small boy. Roger left him to his grandmother, who admitted that her son had very poor tastes in women. Now a man, Vernon manages a full-service gas station 30 kilometers north of Cheyenne Mountain. Vernon, his father Roger and his grandmother believed the United States government ran tests on the military personnel while in the Gulf. Because of it Vernon remains a skeptical of government-issued explanations. One such cover story was issued following the arrival of an interdimensional visibility device to Earth. Colonel Jack O'Neill, on leave, came in contact with Vernon and spread the "infection" to the gas station manager. Consequently Vernon found he was able to perceive interdimensional insects. Fearing that the government cover-up heralded disaster, Vernon attempted to escape the quarantine zone to Las Vegas, likely to his friend Chuck. The military closed down the airport just prior to his plane's takeoff, where O'Neill was able to convince him that he was seeing aliens, and that his country needed him to keep a lid on what he had seen.
