Abducted as a boy by a rogue Asgard scientist, Wu underwent experimentation by Loki. Decades later, the man offered his memories of the experience freely to Samantha Carter and Daniel Jackson, who were investigating the similarities in certain abductions. He was called "Professor" by Jackson.
