REGINALD GREER (Sgt. Greer's father in flasbacks). 40-45 African American gulf war vet who has seen better days. He was once a strong, proud man who believed in serving his country and was honored with a medal for his service. But physical and mental illness have plagued him since his return from the war. He is quiet, angry and a little frightening. He mistreats his pre-teen son -- a young Ronald Greer believing he is preparing him for a cruel, thankless world. Angela, his wife protects Ronald and stays with Reginald because she believes Reginald is a victim of gulf war syndrome and side-effects from the war and that no one else will care for him ... GUEST LEAD
YOUNG RONALD GREER 12-13 (in flashbacks). African American. Physically fit. Quiet and strong and intense. He has withstood years of mental and physical mistreatment at the hands of his father who is an unstable victim of post war syndrome. His spirit has never been broken in part because of the love and support of his mother. This is a young man who single-handedly rescued both his mother and father from a burning house ...
