Beware of spoilers in the report below!
Sheppard and his team finally catch up with Lieutenant Ford (Rainbow Sun Francks), missing since “Runner” (Season Two’s third episode). Ford has been altered by exposure to a Wraith enzyme, which gives him extraordinary strength and agility — like a drug. In the months since he left Atlantis, Ford has gathered a small group of followers, who also take the drug and who are bent on taking the fight to the Wraith.
Among them are Kayano and Jace, two young men who have pledged themselves to Ford’s cause. Kanayo is the group’s leader and a former Genii spy, though like the others his judgment has clearly been affected by the Wraith enzyme. Jace is a technical expert, who has become adept at extracting the enzyme from defeated prey and, thanks to its improvements of his mental acuity, has cracked some of the Wraith language.
The group of young warriors has made several successful attacks on the Wraith, retrieving data nodes and utilizing stolen Genii computers and technology from other races. They have also learned much about the Wraith as a species — such as the fact that they are territorial creatures, and not a unified collective.
Jace even suggests to Dr. McKay that they are fracturing even further as a result of Teyla’s newfound telepathic abilities, restricting the access that an individual ship has to the Wraith telepathic network.
Ford and his followers are vague about their impending plan, but all is soon revealed to Colonel Sheppard: They intend to raid a Wraith hive ship and destroy it, and they want the team’s help.
“The Lost Boys” is expected to air in September as the final episode of the summer season on The SCI FI Channel. The conclusion, “The Hive,” should air in the U.S. in January.
