Sanctuary was the number one cable program for the night of October 3 in the demographic of adults aged 25 to 54, and number four among Adults 18-49. It’s the highest-rated original series premiere since Eureka bowed in July of 2006.
The series was created by Damian Kindler, who served as a writer and producer on Stargate SG-1 between Seasons Six and Nine. Also executive producing with Kindler and Tapping is former Stargate director Martin Wood, and television veteran Sam Egan.
Tapping (“Samantha Carter”) stars as Dr. Helen Magnus, a 157-year-old scientist who runs a sanctuary for strange creatures and people with supernatural abilities. The show also stars Robin Dunne, Emilie Ullerup, and Christopher Heyerdahl.
Heyerdahl is also currently playing “Todd” the Wraith on Stargate Atlantis.
Sanctuary takes over Atlantis‘s 10 p.m. time slot starting this Friday night, with Atlantis now airing at 9 p.m.
