Can’t wait for this to come out…always thought the music was too overpowering in the original…roll on the end of the month :-)

Aargh! They haven’t sorted the bits of the press release that mention Ra instead of Apophis. Rather frustrating.
Still no Blu-Ray. :( That would make it easier to convince myself to buy a fancified version of something I already have.
Indeed Joshua. I too am very hesitant to buy this as it is only a DVD release. I’ve reached the point now where I will only buy new dics on Blu-Ray. I don’t see the point spending more money on a legacy format. As they’ve gone back to the original film to create the new cut, it really beggars belief that they didn’t go just that extra mile and make a Blu-Ray version. The cynical side of me thinks they’ll wait until everyone has bought this before releasing the new and improved Blu-Ray version, so I think I’ll hold off… Read more »
Why consider BluRay for a 1997 episode? If it wasn’t filmed in HD.. it can’t be in HD? BluRay would then be a waste of money and production. Buy the DVD :P
Unless it was filmed digitally (which back then I doubt it was), then you’ll be able to get HD resolution from the film. Photographic film has a much higher resolution than even 1080p (Blu-Ray res) and just requires a new HD transfer to be done from the film. The only things that will likely not be in HD are the digital effects. These would have to be re-done to the higher HD res, but from what I’ve read they’ve redone alot of the effects anyway so I can’t see it would have taken very much more effort go do them… Read more »
From what i understand the first two or three seasons were filmed in 16mm anyway. The production went to 35mm in the fourth season. When did SG-1 and Atlantis start shooting in HD?
Dave
Awesome News! And yea, Play.com will be where I’ll be getting my copy from! :)
Btw I did forget to say that with play.com it is £11.99….
With me I am still getting the old style DVD’s until they bring down the price of the Blu-ray and I also have a DVD player that upgrades them to Full HD and a Full HD telly….so I am ok for now…LOL
Kriss :-)
Dave – Atlantis from season 1 and SG1 from Season 8 if you look a Lockdown which was the first one filmed in HD you will see that it is slightly green due to them not realising they had to change the flurescent tubes to emit a different type of light….

30 bucks (with tax) for a recut episode with new music and voice dubs from a single actors. hahaha…. oh wait their serious…. HAHAHAHAHA! I think its safe to say MGM just doesnt care anymore and is trying to suck the fanbase dry now. Well it was fun while it lasted.
