Hot on the heels of last week’s February 10 release date announcement, Firesky / Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment have launched preorders for Stargate: Resistance. The third-person online shooter will be the Stargate franchise’s first video game since the original tie-ins to the 1994 movie.
Resistance costs $19.95 in the U.S., £12.95 U.K., and 14,95 € in the EU. It is a PC-only release.
Preorder the game now at Direct2Drive.com, where you can download it on February 10 and start playing immediately! The site is also showcasing this brand new trailer for the game, with some great-looking game play footage:
Unlike with MMOs, Stargate: Resistance carries no monthly subscription fee to continue online play.
Stargate: Resistance lets you create a character in one of six classes, joining an online battle between Earth (represented by Stargate Command) and the Goa’uld for control of the galaxy. Learn more about the game in GateWorld’s Video Games section, and be sure to check out our interview with the game’s developers to answer many of your questions.
Cheyenne’s second Stargate release, Stargate Worlds, is a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. It is still in development.
not too sure about this. ill wait to see if people like it or not first.
What about a Steam release?
It’s Stargate, I’ve got to have it! :)
Is there a subscription fee?
I laughed at the beginning when the Jaffa failed to enter the gate, also, why isn’t the iris active?
This looks a little disappointing to be honest. Why ONLY P90s and a sniper rifle never used in the show? Where are the other guns like the M4 w/ grenade launcher and G36 that have been popular in the show as well?
I played the beta and was extremely disappointed. I’ve seen fan-made modifications (mods) of other games do way better than this one. I might buy it down the road, but for now there are several games out there that are better.
[…] GateWorld; Thanks, […]
@steelbox … yes this game will be out on Steam. D2D just has the exclusive pre-order rights to the game. So Feb 10 and on-ward you can get it from steam. @desertfox2020 with many games based off of a tv show or movie they are not restricted by the weapons used in the show or movie. For instance, SG12 could have used that sniper regularily and we didn’t see it. But anyways, they just needed a sniper to balance out the game. @hithere the iris isn’t active because then why would the SGC ever lower it? You know who is… Read more »

and what stores are going to be selling the new staregate Resistance game i cant find any sores to by it at
It’s just Unreal Tournament with Stargate models… So essentially, it’s a mod that costs you $20 =/
@James Betts JR, the game will only initially be released for PC, but they are open to releasing it on PS3 and 360 later if sales are good enough, and if the demand is there. Also, this game will only be available as download. You can pre-order it at Direct2Drive.com and on Feb 10 you can get it on Steam and on the Firesky website. @gaddorm this game has nothing to do with Unreal Tournament except for the Unreal Engine 3 which is a computer engine that has been used to create dozens of games. And this game is much… Read more »
Does anyone have an ~idea how big of a download it will be? I’m limited to 7.5 GB per month, and am usually at 7.4….
@rview … I can half answer that. The site says 8GB max, but last weekend they had a test run of the game with one map and it was 1.1gb, so I would say the full game will be around 2.2 but definitely not biger than your limit.
Thanks zainea13. Now to figure out how to cut back so I can get enough usage to roll off…. Guess no ebay for a few days.
Not buying… I’m not giving CME a dime… ever. They burned that bridge long ago. I don’t care if they release a ‘Game of the Year’ they’ll never see anything from me. =P
a sniper rifle was used in one episode that i seen, by o’neill in the episode Orpheus
@/rra|<is
What CME do to p*ss you off so much?
@Arrakis

Quote: “It’s just Unreal Tournament with Stargate models… So essentially, it’s a mod that costs you $20 =/” THIS IS NOT TRUE! Yes they are using the “Unreal Engine” but that doesn’t make it a MOD, they didn’t start with UnrealT and make a game, they pay 10,000$ a year to licence that engine, that is far more than a simple FPS, it is an 3D Engine that has brought more games to the table than apparently most people realise. These are a top-notch company, and for this product there was no BETA, except for in Internal one, unless your… Read more »
Roll on that Xbox release! *passes out holding breath*
It doesn’t look bad, and $20 isn’t that expensive. Not thrilled with it just being on the PC though. I prefer console gaming.
A third-person online shooter? meh, I’ll pass, they should’ve grabbed the code/rights for SG:Alliance and resurrected that instead, have a single player or co-op shooter with a story and open levels.
@Billz They locked into a contract to produce an MMO, then when times got rough, instead of keeping the franchise’s fans in the loop, they let us hang for 6 months @ a time. Instead of say, a simple ‘hi we’re still alive, and this week we’re working on (insert some mundane game detail here’ (you know the simple things that take all of 5 minutes to do). So basically they decided to disrespect the whole community that they were hoping to eventually sell a product to. Oh yeah, and even when they were directly questioned about it, they chose… Read more »
I’m sticking with Mass Effect 2 :D
They kept people apprised, as I got TONS of email from Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment when I asked question directly. Email if you want info, don’t post on “site X” and think they are supposed to track down all the questions and comments the people on the Internet have. it seems like everyone that uses the Internet and posts on some of these forums really think they are the only people out their and the only ones that matter….manners people!
Can you fight as a Tok’ra or only as a human? Anyone knows?
