Thanks – just what I waited for! (Though you’d sneaked out the podcast this time, I found it in the podcast section before it got to the news section). Haven’t watched the new episodes (living in a far away galaxy does that) but I still listen to podcasts. Love them :)

Edit: (“Thought” you had sneaked it out :D)

I’m going to make an assumption an attempt to answer one of your quibbles. The assumption is that Destiny’s FTL drive functions similarly to Star Wars hyperdrives, and I make that assumption because both of them have difficulties with gravity wells. If that is true, then the reason Destiny couldn’t change course and jump right back into FTL is that when it got knocked out its momentum carried it too far into the gravity well. It’s like if you’re driving a car and suddenly pass into an area with no oxygen, preventing the engine from firing. The car stops accelerating,… Read more »

Joe Mallozzi mentioned on his blog that the aliens were able to get onto Destiny because Lt. James cut power to that section of the ship when the guns were causing power surges, hence no sheild. This would also mean they were never on board.

I was wondering the same thing myself before he explained it.

One thing that was not brought up is the prospect that it was the Furlings who created the planet.

What is your name?
What is your quest (glory, or to be a hero)
What is your favourite colour?

Wow. you just earned yourself a new fan.

Recently started listening to the podcast, I am liking it so far!

My theory on the obelisk – it is some sort of control for maintaining the sun. the planet was a rouge planetoid that some aliens installed the sungenerator (obelisk) on for experimention. the planet has long since been abandoned, and probably wont feature in the series again.

When Destiny revealled its Sunscoops in “Light”, i hit the roof, and for me, SGU hasnt topped that at all. The Obelisk in “Faith” was a let down, more questions than answers yet again. (I think we’ve already established that Destiny is not operating at peak efficiency. Its Sunscoops dont fill up the fuel tanks, they cant use the full shields or weapons, and the screen that tells them that their stargate doesnt have the range to get them home is obviously broke as well.) I would have expected to have seen a little more evolution in their character’s relationships… Read more »

Dont know how it works in America, but here in Sweden, most people prefer to go out on fridays. So for me it is a very smart move to move the show to Tuesdays. That for me is an obvious way of increasing the number of people watching the show.

That one caller from MN was waaay off about SG-1 not dealing with personal faith/religion. That was a huge overwhelming theme.

Tj was doing a ‘stage whisper’ to Mat about her pregnancy so it doesn’t necessarily mean the others heard.

They actually hint at how the aliens grabbed Cloe during ‘Divided’, they kind of vacuumed her up in an old fashioned sci-fi alien manner. In general the force field keeps them out.

That lady complaining about soap operas is just recycling the same old anti-fan talking points. Again, I thought we we’re doing that anymore on Gateworld?

: I know it’s ridiculously easy to cover plotholes, after it’s brought to light, using some mind blowing BS logic. So I guess the Aliens had a huge arrow outside the ship that said “cut hole here, shields down”?, and after that, hoped someone would wonder aimlessly into the path of the old skool “tractor beam”?

@katebekett: No BS required. Before, Destiny was on auto, it used power only for the shield and it never faltered because of that. Now we have humans onboard, screwing around and using most of the power for weapons. So in spreading the power to both weapons, shields, lifesupport and who knows what else, the shield will become weak when you power all those things and get hit with weapons fire from the enemy. And the fact that the military chick with the big assets (dont remember her name) cut the power to that section when electrical surges were preventing them… Read more »

: to answer the other stuff you said. All ships in the Stargate franchise have the ability to sense where the shield is failing, so thats not that hard to understand. And the fact that stupid Chloe walked under it, well that was lucky for them. Im sure they were thinking of boarding it, but when they had Chloe right in front of their face, why not just grab her?

Why can’t we have episodes that EXPLORE the ship? That is what irritated me about Atlantis, they rarely explored this city of advanced tech and since we know they have tons of time on the ship, they need to center a few episodes on what is down there in that room… (I know, atmosphere and spooky halls are stopping them). Also, “Faith” was okay, but centering a space episode around whining military was boring. The best part was “why is that beam of light shining?” and we don’t know… of course. This show needs to drastically get writers that stop… Read more »

, I don’t think it was a BS cover-up. He mentioned it the day after on his blog when someone asked. Also, he wrote the episode.

@ColonelMando, one issue with them exploring the ship is that there’s no sealed off rooms with abandoned experiments (like Atlantis), since the Ancients never got to Destiny to start anything, so they’ve just been throwing in the odd new room with a bit of potentially useful tech as an aside in other stories (chair room, the possible robot they discovered in Faith), to establish them for any time they use them, rather than having these rooms as the plot. I think Rush & co are wrong about the star/planet being created, and the level of advancement required by the unseen… Read more »

, Thanks! It cleared me up on the tech and the planet. I agree, why build the planet? Was it a fly trap for humans? Or maybe, STRONG MAYBE, Elizabeth Weir finally had a planet made with her little robot friends to get away, but we found her… *wierd space music starts*

Is the Riley you talk about in this episode Sgt. Riley? If so, i just saw him in the newest kino episode, episode 24 and that should be after his coma right? Anyway, great podcast as usual, but, a question, do you run it trough any editing software? if so try finding something called a compressor so you can even out the voices, for this episode i had the ipod in my hand and switched the volume back a forth two steps when you guys took urns talking due to the differences in you volumes. Another thing you should try… Read more »
