Showing off the vast fabric of the Stargate universe, cast members from both Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis will make appearances in the second season of SGU.
That’s the word from our friends at SCI FI PI, the Web site for Australia’s SCI FI broadcast network, which was in Vancouver last week for an international press junket on the show’s set. A full interview with executive producer Brad Wright (to whom the news is attributed) is forthcoming.
No word yet on just who will appear on the show, and how big the guest roles will be.
The first season of Stargate Universe included numerous appearances from SG-1‘s Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O’Neill), Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson), and Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter) — some bigger than others.
Who else from the SG-1 cast would you like to see on Destiny? And who are your top picks from Atlantis? Do you want characters to appear on Earth, or grab a communication stone and actually visit Destiny itself?
McKay is the obvious choice, as well as Carter, at least to visit the ship itself. To support or consult from Earth/Atlantis, almost anyone is game.
If they intend to use an Atlantis characters for any lengthy roles it will be interesting to see how they incorporate the character because the writing styles between those SGA and SGU in particular are almost complete polar opposite. SG1 towards the end definitely gravitated toward that atlantis style show but in earlier seasons of SG1 occasionally shot more towards that SGU drama style of writing. Which I think opened the door more for a SG1 characters to guest star rather than SGA characters.
I’d love to see some scenes between Dr.Rush and McKay or for them to get both Zelenka and McKay onboard Destiny for a consult. I love it when those two bicker and they make the most sense to me.

While I do like to see the SG1 and SGA cast members. I’d like it to be more than just a few second or one minute cameo. Can we have some plots where the guest stars actually are more involved with the plot? Poll?
Mckay, daniel, carter and o’neill are really the only ones that could realistically fit into the story. I am sure they could figure something out, like when they “midaway” unexpected to have tealc but it definately worked. Mckay would definitely be my top choice but seems like it would be difficult to add that character to the show. I agree the writing styles are just too different. I’d like to see O’Neill, Carter, and Jackson again as well as maybe Dr Lee, Walter, McKay, Zelenka, Woolsey. As much as I like Teal’c and Ronan I don’t see how you could fit them in for a guest star role in this show. You know who we need to do a guest role…..Siler!!
The one that is no choice is O’neill, since they visit him here and there for reports and stuff.
Teal’c, Ronan, Cameron and Sheppard, don’t really belong there unless there is some kind of battle.
Carter and McKay, would be ok, i guess since they are smart people.
Daniel, would just have a geek moment and would be hilarious and funny to watch :P.
Beckett or Jennifer, would be nice too have on board since they are doctors.
But Vala, Landry, Woolsey or Teyla, i would avoid, since they really don’t have much to give to SGU.

From Atlantis I’d like to see John, Ronon, and Woolsey. I don’t like the character but it makes sense for McKay to appear too.
i would love to see both Daniel Jackson and Rodney McKay use the communication stones to actually get on the ship. i could see trading a couple of the civilians with john sheppard and ronan or teal’c during the battles
I’d like Col. Samuels, Urgo, that short kid from x-files with the invisible mother and the naked old man from Torment of Tantalus. Add Felger and Anise and presto, instant classic.
I don’t want to see ANY SGA characters on SGU. I can’t believe that the ptb are now so desparate that they have to include SGA characters to boost SGU’s failing ratings. I thought SGU was the way forward for the franchise according to Joseph Mallozzi. Now they can’t even sustain their audience and stand on their own feet. Season 5 of SGA already did enough damage to the characters, I’m not interested in seeing SGU versions of them. Sheppard and McKay. Since tptb downplayed Sheppard’s ATA in the later seasons of SGA, it’s about time it surfaced again. The writers stated it was the greatest gene, “the likes they never seen before”, but chose to ignore it. Must have been too much of a challenge for them. And McKay, for all the obvious reasons. Plus Flanigan and Hewlett play well off of each other.

It would seem TPTB are very desperate to call help to ones they fired 2 years ago and these same people criticized them so much comparing to sgu cast. They the best one cast with sgu ones but just after they called AT MS and RDA and now SGA ones.

Jack, Daniel, and Sam for SG1 and Mckay for SGA would be the obvious choices IMO. Jack because they report to him. Sam and McKay for their experience with Ancient technology. Daniel because of his knowledge of the Ancients themselves. Would be great if there was a problem on the Destiny and they bought in Sam, Daniel and McKay to fix it. I agree with angel and domdom. I’d just as soon they leave the SGA characters out of it. But of course if they come to some kind of agreement with either Hewlett or Flanigan, I’ll watch in support of the *actors*.
McKay and Carter should be in there to try help work out how to use the ship and possible take full control of it. Sheppard would be valuable for his Military ability, plus the fact on SGA he has the best ability to use Ancient technology, from what I recall better than General Jack O’Neill (RDA). Daniel Jackson for his ability to understand Ancient language or it would seem any language. It’s unfortunate, but it does seem that casting SG1 and SGA characters into SGU is a way to bring backs who quit the series. However, as someone pointed out, only a few characters would logically need to on Destiny if that’s the case. Carter, or McKay, but after McKay went through that body swap with Cadman, I seriously doubt he’d EVER do it again. As much as I like Sheppard and Mitchell, there’s no need for fighter pilots, is there? And Teal’c… Ronon…. well, I doubt they’d do it and there’s no logical reason for them to be there. I am assuming that they are going down this route in an attempt to lure some of the SGA/SG1 fans back to the franchise. The folks who are not watching due to dislike of the tone of the show or out of “loyalty” to the previous shows are probably not going to tune in long term just because one of their favorites makes a guest appearance. The only SGA character that would make sense would be McKay. And I shutter to think what they would do to him. I still cringe at The Pegasus Project and how he was the butt of the jokes. But I don’t like the tone of Universe and even if they have McKay on occasionally, I still won’t watch SGU.
More thinking on this and how they could get Sheppard into an episode (can you tell he’s the one I’d want to see? )- he wouldn’t actually have to be on the Destiny, there could be some tech back on Earth that only a strong gene carrier could initiate, that was vital for the Destiny’s mission to complete. Or whatever that grand mission is, could involve gathering together those with the gene into one place for some joining or something – that way you’d get Shep, Beckett, Lorne, Jack.

Wow. I thought SGU was its own show. Now TPTB are trying to lure us “old” fans back. Not gonna happen. I support the SGA and SG1 actors, but if I don’t like a show then I don’t like a show and no bait is going to get me to come back.
Joe Flanigan said several times that he wouldn’t be doing any SGU stuff. If – and that’s a big if – he popped up in SGU, the part would have to be rocking awesome to lure him back. He really isn’t an actor who would grovel for roles, just the opposite. He calls ’em, as he sees ’em – that’s why he rubbed the execs so wrong.
I think that with SGA actors they mean someone like Amelia or Chuck or maybe, just maybe Zelenka or Woolsey (aiding Wray?), not the “Big Four” XP

While I would love Teal’c to be on the show, I really don’t see what role he could play, you don’t just put a character in, just to have them there. But who knows, maybe I’m just short sighted, maybe there is a place for him. Definitely McKay, he is very proficient with ancient technology, I’m sure there are many situations where he could be of use. Why not Aiden Fort? For he has been missing for so long and no one knows whether he is alive still or not. And if he is, he’s jumping from world to world. ( Maybe chased by the Wraith due to his Wraithenzymeaddiction?)
Or an alternative Todd the Wraith? Would be nice. But Aiden would be more logic to me.
I see Aiden being detected by the Destiny Crew and brought aboard…There ofcourse he would make big trouble because he is running out of enzyme.
I’m curious how SGU fans feel about the producers inserting SG1 or SGA characters into the mix, especially if the SGU fans like just SGU, but never cared for the former…
The STAR of SGA – Sheppard I’d also like to see someone like Corin Nemec back in the story also. I think he did a wonderful job when Shanks was gone. He really did fit in and if he were added instead of replacing Michael he would have lasted longer. Anyhow, Mr. Flannigan all the way.
I would like to see Sheppard visit the destiny. Maybe they need him to operate a piece of ancient technology they discover or something. Maybe he could butt heads with some of the other cast since John was a headstrong type of guy.
O’neill, Carter, Daniel, Shepard, McKay, Zelenka, Mitchell. I would love to see all these people in the next season. Maybe Shepard and Mitchell help with the current Lucian alliance problem, then when that settles you bring McKay and zelenka on to help with the technical research and of course you bring Daniel on to help with the ancients stuff. But would also love to see alot more of Jack. This show could only benefit from more screentime for Jack.
I vote to bring in Shepard for an episode to “stand-in” for young during some sort of investigation/hearing with the IOA. I think it would be interesting. Perhaps bring in both McKay and Shepard to stand in for Rush/Young, with an inquiry about the events in Justice. While they are there, have McCay set up something with an unintended consequence that Mathboy helps him solve. If you want to have something interesting you could have Shepard aged about 20 years after a “encounter” with Todd, which would explain his presence on Earth….
Woolsey substituting for Wray would be interesting – especially when Wray looks into the mirror….don’t know how her significant other would react… I could see the IOA sending in “the master” to evaluate the reports Wray has been sending in on the Rush/Young relationship.

I’m an Atlantis only fan. I don’t like SG-1 and I’ve never watched any second of SGU. After all the things TPTB have said about SGA (the show in general and its actors), I’ll never watch any show produced by them again. I never liked how Atlantis was treated, not only because of the cancellation but in general. It seems to me that, after SGA’s first season, all the producers wanted to do is dump SG-1 characters on Atlantis for either guest roles or as regulars (poor SGU only fans, I know how you must be feeling now). Just looking at it from a story point of view, who would the crew of the Destiny need to help them? If you’re looking for someone who has experience with being cut off from Earth, looking for resources, handling alien conflicts, etc. then John Sheppard would be your ‘go-to guy’. Elizabeth Weir would also be good, but she’s currently frozen in space somewhere. (I suppose they could thaw her out, but I doubt they’d bother.) A comment for those wanting Sheppard for the ATA Gene: The only way that is plausible is with some new tech on Earth or if they get another Icarus planet and actually put him on the ship. The latter would be unlikely, as that would be, as presented right now, a one-way trip. The stones won’t do it. That is a mind transfer, not a body transfer, so the DNA would not be his, thus no ATA gene.
