There’s no info yet on why a Blu-ray release is not on the schedule that TVShowsOnDVD saw, or if one will turn up eventually. MGM and Fox Home Entertainment took a stab at the high-def format with a handful of Atlantis episodes, in addition to SGU Season One and the movie releases of The Ark of Truth and Continuum.
In the U.K., the Region 2 edition of The Complete Final Season will be released on July 4 — on both DVD (£49.99) and Blu-ray
(£59.99). Pre-order those now at Amazon.co.uk to lock in the current discount price.

MGM goin’ cheap on us. The rest of the eps on on blu-ray. Cutting their losses I guess.
Any news on the UK release? If the show only comes back in May I will wait the few weeks and just order this instead. Guess talks for carrying this on in another form/medium are not going well in the current cover art has ‘the final season’.
No! the complete final season no
Huh. No blu-ray? Well, Amazon says otherwise. :)

Where are Scott and Greer on that cover? You’d think they’d make the cut over Telford. Why should the decision making for the cover make any more sense than anything else has for this show though?
Of course it’ll be on Blu-ray. It’s not uncommon at all for press releases to forget to include Blu-ray.
Amazon puts a lot of crud as available in Blu-ray someday that isn’t yet. So that doesn’t mean much.
I’ll be ticked if they don’t do Blu-ray, since I bought Season 1 in Blu-ray.
This show is so dark and poorly lit all the time bluray HD is the only way you can see what is going on.
and nothing really happens you need to see anyway So DVd works fine.
Should of put spoiler alert on here? Eli’s Mom Comes on Board!?
No blu ray = no buy. I own EVERY Stargate DVD and EVERY Stargate blu ray (except the Atlantis collection) and I own season 1 on Blu ray. Having watched the series in HD throughout its entire run and seen the amazing picture quality of season 1 on blu ray, I can’t see myself downgrading the picture quality.
I also will not be purchasing this set unless it’s released on blu ray. Wonder if this news has anything to do with the reported blu ray shortage caused by limited disc production capacity: http://www.homemediamagazine.com/blu-ray-disc/combo-packs-threaten-blu-ray-disc-production-23217
Everyone relax it will be released on blu ray. They spent the money to have it shot in 1080i so itll be released in that format. I am sad that it says final season on the cover tho, I still held on to some hope that someone would pull $40 mill out of their ass. We will prob get a reboot in a few years, i wonder what it will be? U kno what would be awesome, SG 51. maybe make mckay the lead? Area 51 was never shown much in the show, just a few times. And i think… Read more »
McKay & Woolsey. I love Picardo and loved him on Atlantis.
The description for this article on the main page is REALLY misleading. It hasn’t been announced yet, that doesn’t mean it WON’T be announced.
Those images of the cast members in the centre are from Season 1. They could have at least taken knew photos.
But i do like Rush and Young face to face
Love the cover art.
looks like we may get some real special features this time. i will buy it.
Sorry but I dont purchase dvds anymore.
Only Blu-rays dvds are a waste of time.
@StargateDominator – That’s in “Pathogen,” episode 4.
no blue-ray? thats not cool. and did someone say they love the cover art? i wouldve liked it if it werent for the red SGU title, placed between rush and young, makes the whole thing seem “romantic”. still not as bad as the bsg ones.
I believe a UK Blu-Ray release is scheduled, that’s what the amazon link above refers to.
And pssst, Darren… CotG-FC wasn’t released on Blu-Ray. ;)
So far SGU season one is the only blu ray I’ve bought that utilises the whole TV screen and doesn’t letterbox the image. I’ll be bitterly disappointed if there’s no season 2 blu ray.
I really want to show my support for the show but I don’t see the point of buying a DVD copy of a show that was shot in HD. It was shot in HD for a reason and it looks AMAZING.
Just seen Ugly Pig’s comment about the Amazon link. Great shout – pre-ordered.
Thanks :D!
Any news for an Australian DVD release? On the SciFi channel here, we are about up to the same episode as the US, maybe an episode or two behind.
well that sucks. i stopped buying DVDs years ago. way to make stargate circle the drain….
“Final Season”, then it’s definite now. No point watching any more SGU since it’s obviously not gonna be continued.
i think the question now is; will SGU get a movie deal or no? i hope scifi in general doesnt turn back to the usual non serious storytelling, we deserve serious drama too.
I almost wonder why I should even watch SGU online. If it doesn’t have an ending…
It’s been known for a while that a new season is not going to happen. The producers are trying to go for movies, probably the cross-series kind.
[…] 5 lemezen érkezik. Az epizódok mellett természetesen egy halom extrával, amiket elolvashattok a GateWorld cikkében. Blu-ray kiadványról nincs […]
July 12th 2011 It seems that SGU Season 2 Blue Ray is hard to get in Canada. Not even aveilable in stores yet. So I ordered the last Blue Ray copy from the Future Shop website. This is by far the best and realistic series I ever seen.
I’m glad to hear that the Blue Ray copy I ordered from Future Shop is on the way. But I couldn’t wait anymore. So I went out to the local store and bought season 2 on regular DVD. Just watched the first disk and the extras on it. WOW! This show keeps the viewer on their toes since the first season 1 episode. Congrats to all the people involved creating such a enjoyable Sci-Fi series. This is 10 times better than previous Star-gates. A+ for special effects, sound, quality of characters, story and all! Surely worth every dollars spent, a… Read more »
Well, they sent me the wrong Blue Ray DVD. I ordered season 2 but they sent me season 1.
Will have to wait for season 2 on Blue Ray cause it is now unavailable.
