Stargate SG-1‘s Michael Shanks (“Daniel Jackson”) is headed back to series television in Saving Hope, which has been picked up for a 13-episode first season by Canada’s CTV (story). Now production company Entertainment One Television has released the first trailer for the show.

Saving Hope also stars Erica Durance (Smallville) in the story of expert surgeon Charlie Harris (Shanks) who becomes a coma patient in his own hospital following a car accident, only to roam the halls as a disembodied spirit. NBC is reportedly thinking of picking up the show in the U.S.

A little too soapy for my taste but I wish him a great deal of success with it!
if its not stargate its none of my business
Good luck mr shanks, I agree with Sylvia it sounds too soapy for me as well.
Good luck Michael – absolutely thrilled for you!….soapy or not, anyone who can make a tuxedo look that good is worth a watch from me….shallow?….oh yes indeed, but it’s only a TV programme and worth a watch….as is all the stuff that my favourite Stargate Alumni are in…I’ll give everything that they appear in a go at least once!….
Deeds xx
“You died, we did everything we could. Sorry about that” – nice to see a bit of Stargate humour there
I giggled a little at that….and he’s the best man to go to with “how to cope with being dead/nearly dead again..and again…and again…. :)
So funny that Michael Shanks is always getting parts that leave him semi-dead. Never alive (in human form), never dead, always stuck someplace in the middle! :P
Yeah I liked that “Sorry about that” bit too…a little bit of Daniel peeking through. It does look a little soapy to me as well, but with Michael Shanks in it you know I’ve got to give it a try. :)
Grey’s Anatomy with a bit of Supernatural and the X Files thrown in. – However, for the actors and production personnel, its work to the pay bills. I hope it succeeds for all involved on that basis.
Nice to see Michael getting a starring role in a network show. I was so disappointed after he auditioned for Danno in Hawaii 5-0 and Scott Caan ended up getting the role.
Not for me!
I agree, too SOAPY! Zzzz!
Looks cool! Grif, always a pleasure to read your comments.
I’d actually be surprised if Saving Hope garned that many extra fans from the Sci Fi genre anyway..I’d assume that your average GW fan probably wouldn’t fancy a “soapy” hospital drama, although a few just might give it a go to support an actor who worked on a series for a long time….One hopes that he and his fellow actors will gain fans from other areas/genres as, or if, it takes off…and soaps aren’t all bad…after all, didn’t a certain Richard Dean Anderson appear in a little drama called “General Hospital” for a while or so?…;)..didn’t do him any harm… Read more »
I’ll agree it does look too soapy… but I’ll give it the standard 3 show shot. If I’m not into it by 4 I’ll just wish him well. :-)
I hope NBC picks this up. My mom has never seen Michael Shanks before, and I think she would like him as an actor. I want to see him in something not Stargate, though I do love my Stargate (I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t!).
Yeah, Michael Shanks of Stargate Atlantis Fame. Really??? in its own promo they don’t even get his past credit right.
I am gonna LOVE this show soooo much!!! I really hope NBC gets it too but if not, maybe watch it online. Not too soapy for me :) I watch everything that Michael is in!

People say it seems to soapy. Can’t be any more soapy than Startgate Universe.
Looks like it’s getting picked up in US for a summer series. Great to be seeing Michael. Hope there will be some room for his excellent comedic chops!
