As if his leading roles on Farscape and Stargate SG-1 weren’t enough, Ben Browder is ratcheting up his geek credentials even further. The “Cameron Mitchell” actor has been booked for a guest appearance on Doctor Who for the BBC, according to the show’s official magazine.
Browder will appear in the third episode of the next season (the show’s seventh — or thirty-third, depending on how you count them). The story is said to be set in the American Wild West, though it is filming in Spain. The currently untitled episode is written by Toby Whithouse (BBC3’s Being Human) and directed by Saul Metzstein.
Rather than its usual spring premiere, Who will begin its seventh season in the fall on BBC and BBC America.

UPDATE: It looks like a 2012 Doctor Who Easter special was widely speculated and even misreported on some sites, but has not been confirmed by the BBC. The story above has been corrected.
Great!
I count it as the 37th season and welcome aboard Mr Browder.
Ben Browder and Dr. Who. Two of my faves in one awesome package!!
YAY! Now they need to get David Hewlett on the show too – he’s such a fan.
Hopefully hes got a gun in his hand and a foot in somebodys behind, I’m guessing Vala’s not far behind….
There won’t be enough awesome between him and Rory Williams to go around! :p
Can’t wait! :D
Great!! Only John Crichton/Cameron Mitchell deserves more than a guest role. I’ve been waiting a long time to see that guy in a new lead role.
The Dr. in the Farscape universe would be a great crossover!

Wouldn’t that be the ultimate episode?! To see the Tardis appear on board Moya? If only…
Saw Ben Browder at comicon in australia :), he had a moustache, said he was playing a sheriff in the 1800’s on Doctor Who
