Atlantis: Season Two
First Aired: September 23, 2005
First Aired: September 23, 2005
When the team finds an Ancient warship adrift on the edge of the galaxy, its crew still alive, Colonel Sheppard enters their virtual reality stasis to communicate with them.
“Aurora” Facts:
- This is our team’s first time meeting living, breathing Lanteans. (In an alternate timeline Dr. Weir met some in “Before I Sleep,” but that version of Elizabeth then grew old and died.) The Lanteans would be back next season, in “The Return, Part 1.”
- Strangely enough, a major guest character — the Captain of the Aurora, played by Bruce Dawson — never received a name in the episode.
- Dawson previously played a crewman on the Seberus in the SG-1 episode “Forsaken.”
- It’s tough sometimes for the marketing department to avoid giving away the end of an episode. Who on board the Aurora is a Wraith in digital disguise? Well, this photo was originally released before the episode had aired.

Another good episode. Also the introduction of the hottest wraith ever.. Well in the simulation.
Wish they answered how no one noticed they’d been travelling for so many thousands of years or more.. Maybe the simulation is hacked to reboot every few months.
Great episode – I enjoyed the parts where Rodney had to deal with the Wraith waking up.
At the top, the episode is tagged under SG-1 instead of SGA.
I love the crossed arm Mckay when leaving the cell, so I Dream of Jeannie.
Love this episode.
Good episode. Imaginative and well written.
This wasn’t one of my favorite episodes but, it was good. After watching it tonight, I realized whoever played the Captain of the Aurora did NOT do a good acting job.
As for the story, I also had to question how no one would notice something. The writers had a good thing to come back to with the whole communique or the weakness in Wraith tech. Its too bad they never touched on that again.
This episode also brings up all the thoughts and frustrations on how they won’t finish off the Atlantis storyline.
Also, did anyone notice the look on the first guard’s face who got tricked and locked into the cell just before Sheppard went to try and talk to the Captain? The look on his face was “uhhh, but, what did I do?” look. I had to laugh, it was cute.
