Fans Launch ‘365 Days of Stargate’ Campaign To Rally For New Show

Stargate fans all over the world are joining forces to press Amazon for a new, in-canon Stargate series from creator Brad Wright. #WeWantStargate

Stargate Now Europe

It’s been more than 10 years since the last Stargate TV series went off the air. But with Amazon now in the process of buying Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (and with it the Stargate franchise), this week fans have launched a new campaign to rally for a brand new show.

The fan group Stargate Now Europe is spearheading “365 Days of Stargate,” a year-long celebration of the science fiction franchise and a call for Amazon to green-light a fourth live-action TV series, set in the same universe as Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Stargate Universe.

Daily posts are directed at Amazon’s social media accounts, highlighting another episode from Stargate’s long legacy and using the hashtag #WeWantStargate. GateWorld and other fans will join in over the next 12 months, leading up to the twenty-fifth anniversary of Stargate SG-1 on July 27, 2022.

The daily highlighted episodes are now moving in order through 214 episodes of SG-1 plus the two DVD movies, 100 episodes of Atlantis, and 40 episodes of SGU.

Today’s episode: “Cold Lazarus”

Organizers hope that the sustained campaign will provide fans worldwide with a rallying point, and demonstrate to MGM’s future owners that the audience is eager for a new Stargate series. But not just any series, of course: we’re rallying for a new production that is set in the existing TV canon, first created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner in 1997.

Wright himself has been in development on a new Stargate project since at least 2019. He recently said on his podcast that he hopes Amazon’s purchase of MGM will get things moving for Stargate … but that he isn’t sure yet if Amazon is going to want to make his show.

Stargate fans! Join in now on Twitter and other social media platforms by directing your (polite but firm) requests for a new, in-canon Stargate series to @AmazonStudios and @PrimeVideo using the hashtag #WeWantStargate. It’s important that messages are friendly and clear, positive in celebrating what we love about Stargate, and that participants in the campaign maintain sustained pressure over the year-long rally … or until Amazon announces new Stargate!

Good luck to us but Amazon does what Amazon wants to do. They don’t care about customers the least bit. Be that their regular shop and service or their video platform.

Being cynical never solved anything. It might not help, but it certainly doesn’t hurt.

I enjoyed the stargate series & the opportunities it gave to explore the possibilities of alien encounters.
I look forward to further stories

While a new show would be great, they still need to provide a conclusion to SGU (easy to explain the time-gap – it simply took Eli a few seconds longer than expected to finish his calculations and the ship fell short of the new galaxy and drifted for a number of years) – if they can’t get all the cast back simply explain that their pods failed on the journey.

Best of luck to us! This can’t do anything but help the cause. It would be great to have a fourth Stargate series!

I would push to finish off Universe first with a season or two. Aging actors is easily worked around with the way it ended.

Ha, that’s a really good point. I doubt it would happen unfortunately but what a crazy and fun idea.

Why don’t you wait until it is 100% confirmed that Amazon will own it. As far as we know the FTC could give them a no. Or an other company could swoop in and offer a whole grip more of money.

The best chance of a success is to keep the new stuff cannon. I’ve seen it all 2 to 20 times already. Expand the SGU. If you have other scifi ideas just give it a different franchise title.
