The Stargate SG-1 episode “Touchstone” is a memorable hour from the show’s second season, not only for fans of the show but also for the show’s guest stars. This episode cast several actors who would return later in the series, including Eric Breker (Major Reynolds, who gives SG-1 a tour of Area 51), Matthew Walker (who would return as Moros and Merlin), and Tiffany Lyndall-Knight — who played the Madronan princess, La Moor, in her very first television role.
In a conversation with “Dial the Gate” Tiffany talks about challenges on the set (including the fake snow blowing into the actors’ mouths), working with the SG-1 cast, and who on the set took Tiffany under their wing.
“That was my first TV job,” she revealed. “That was my first professional gig actually. I really didn’t know what I was doing in terms of film and television at that stage, so it was a great opportunity. [It was] really a challenging set — it was green-screen, and we had fake snow, and handling heavy objects, and working with highly esteemed actors I had seen on television. So I was pretty terrified!”

But what stands out the most in Lyndall-Knight’s memory, now more than 25 years later, is the support she received as a young actor from one of the cast.
“The thing I really remember the most was Amanda Tapping,” she said. “I don’t think I had any scenes with her, but I remember being at craft services with her and she just really was so gracious, and really took me under her wing and was very honest about the industry I was about to get involved in. And I remember her talking about some of the challenges” — including people on set telling Tapping to watch her weight when she was first starting out and standing at a craft services table.
Tiffany’s return to the franchise came five years later, in a role where we are guessing most viewers didn’t recognize the Madronan princess. She played Pallan’s wife Evalla in the episode “Revisions.”
“It was so thrilling to be able to come back to a show that was so well respected,” she said. “People loved to work on that show. To get the opportunity to play an entirely different character, when everyone knows the arc of this, was really a great honor.”
