Ancient stasis pod

A long-term life support unit designed for one individual, developed by the Ancients and placed in groupings aboard warships. When deactivated the pod slides from a wall and a lid opens, allowing an occupant to exit or enter. Controls are located directly behind the lid, allowing an individual to initiate the freezing process on his own.

Ancient stasis pods can be modified so that their occupants can participate in a shared virtual construct, allowing their minds to remain active during long voyages. The pods interface directly with the ship's computer so the crew may work on tasks while they are asleep, even allowing the alteration and deletion of files from the ships computers.
