Paynan

Edoran inhabitant and simple fisherman. Paynan rejected the people's initial plans to trade access to their planet's natural naquadah deposits with Earth, fearing that the humans would eat his people out of house and home. However, Jack O'Neill insisted that SG-1 was only interested in fair trade.

Paynan closed his ears when SG-1 spoke the seemingly impossible -- that the Edoran "fire rain" would strike the ground and throw their land into chaos. He also discouraged his fellow villagers against evacuating during the natural disaster. As a result a third of the village, including Paynan, remained behind. He was later shocked when he learned that Talmar and three families were killed in Talmar's home, as the fire rain had struck and destroyed the residence.

A recovery was not quickly forthcoming, but when the dust cleared the air Paynan welcomed O'Neill's help to rebuild his settlement.
