Prisoners of Hadante

A band of malicious and frightening outcasts who have been sent by Stargate to a desolate penal colony world, to live out their lives in misery and constant in-fighting. Prisoners of Hadante were formerly citizens under the rule of the Taldur, a powerful governing body on their homeworld who, in closed quarters, make quick and merciless decisions based on crimes which, often, might seem unjustified to outsiders.

Still, the majority of the Hadante captives appear to be in for legitimate crimes. One long-time inhabitant, Linea, was sentenced to Hadante for annihilating half of the population under the Taldur. Consequently the prisoners yielded to her will out of fear, often serving her meals and allowing her to maintain her own living quarters where she continued her scientific endeavors.

When SG-1 was sent to Hadante by the Taldur, Linea -- called "Destroyer of Worlds" by her people -- told them that one could either control a population by fear or by hope. To this end, she allowed the people to believe that there was hope on a life free from Hadante if they stood before the Stargate as the unstable energy vortex ignited, swallowing their bodies into the outburst of energy -- not realizing they were sentencing themselves to death.

Linea and SG-1 escaped from Hadante utilizing Linea's cold-fusion plants, which generated enough of an electrical charge to allow the inner track of the prison planet's Stargate to unlock and spin freely. The team manually dialed to P2A-509 where SG-3 provided the team with a G.D.O. to return to Earth. Linea and one other prisoner escaped with them, but the remaining residents remain trapped on Hadante.
