Amelius

Alteran inventor who lived countless years before his race settled in the Milky Way Galaxy and became the Ancients. He is believed to be the inventor of the original Stargate.

Amelius was tasked with the creation of the Ark of Truth, a device which would have spared the lives of his small group, but also destroyed the free will of countless members of his people.

Rather than taking on the nature of their oppressors the small group left the Ori galaxy, and the ark was left behind on Celestis (presumed destroyed under rubble). It would eventually be uncovered by SG-1 and used to fulfill its purpose against the Ori.
