The mission was a success after Samantha Carter and Rodney McKay solved the problem of low fuel by initiating a brief hyperspace jump from within Earth's upper atmosphere, depositing the gate several million miles away.
After initiating the jump Colonel O'Neill cleared the craft in time to parachute into the ocean below.
